House GOP Weighs in on McKinney Incident -This Is About Politics
WASHINGTON — House Republicans pushed a resolution Tuesday commending the Capitol police force for professionalism after a confrontation between an officer and Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney.

"I don't think it's fair to attack the Capitol Police and I think it's time that we show our support for them," said Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., a sponsor of the measure. Ignoring a police officer's order to stop or hitting one "is never OK," McHenry said of the incident.

Last week, McKinney had an argument with a uniformed police officer as she sought to enter a House office building. The officer did not recognize her. She refused his order to stop and struck him.

McKinney says she took action in self defense after the officer "inappropriately touched" her.

Any time the Republicans push a resolution, I get very nervous....

1. It's politics and it makes them look like fools
Well, more foolish than usual. The public isn't going to fall for it, especially now.

6. I think none of us know what happened except the participants
I know little about Rep. McKinney, I know a lot less about the Cap. Police.
I suspect the same can be said about the GOP members of the House.

Meanwhile it should be no surprise that the GOP is really hot to find fault with any Dem in order to fight the culture of corruption label. Be careful folks...

3. I have a suggestion for the House Republicans:
Why don't you take your toys and go home if you don't like it? (Please.)

It is also "never OK" to violate the Constitution or declare war on a sovereign nation that has not done anything to us. Want to talk about that?

4. That resolution is in poor taste.
If not the actual resolution, definitely it's timing.

They're gloating, and it isn't even subtle.

5. Oh good grief. The GOP is shameless.
I suppose we have to hear about this endlessly from O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter et al, along with the War on Easter. Those Big Issues that dwarf the dead and wounded in Iraq, unprecedented corruption and a bankrupt nation. And the mainstream media (hello, Chrissy and Tim) will join the chorus. This is so obvious, and so very tiresome.

7. This is why Delay resigned
according to Freepers "someone said":

To: FreedomNeocon
I just heard from a friend that said that this sudden resignation was after a meeting with fellow Republicans and he wanted them to rip McKinney for striking a police officer because he took her striking the officer very personal but they refused. Delay apparently is thinking the Republicans have been intimidated and has turned into a bunch of wimps but still wants to help them so it helps his friends still there.

Man Arrested at Okla. Airport With Device

By KENDAL KELLY
The Associated Press
Thursday, August 11, 2005; 11:29 PM

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Federal agents arrested a college student after finding a small explosive device in his baggage as he passed through an airport security checkpoint.

Officials have found no apparent connection between University of Oklahoma student Charles Alfred Dreyling Jr. and any terrorist group or activity, said Agent Gary Johnson, an FBI spokesman.

Dreyling, 24, was released on $10,000 bail Thursday after appearing in federal court. He faces a federal charge of trying to get on an aircraft with an explosive device. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

<snip>

But Dreyling's landlord, former Oklahoma City Mayor Kirk Humphreys, said he had created a "glorified firecracker" and forgot it was in his luggage.

A rich Republican spoiled brat tries to get on a plane with a pipebomb... gets out of bail... and is allowed to continue his flight school training.

and I question ANYONE who has slammed McKinney without knowing the facts.

This non event is being used to mask the fact that every single GOP is a evil, crooked, lying sack of shit.

and keep it a secret for over 24 hours. But then, of course she's not a member of the Boosh crime family.

23. Because they know the democrats scurry like roaches when the light
shines upon them. DeLay got his APPROPRIATIONS seat back after being INDICTED...for CRIMES. I still haven't seen one Democrat complaining about the vote for Clinton's boyhood home to be declared an historic landmark being delayed during the Dubai Port Deal. I wish I could remember her name - an older female from Florida, I think, got up and said he should be called a 'foreign agent' because of his involvement, called for a roll call vote and it just went away. This AFTER democrats and republicans had gotten up to speak in favor of it. Look what happened with Feingold - esteemed politicians HIDING behind each other to avoid having to make a statement. Republicans know when there's a thorny issue they're free to sharpen their pointy toed shoes and have at 'em.
