I must be a bonehead re: voting Dem |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-04-06 05:32 PM by DancingBear
This is how I thought it worked:
1) If a candidate in a Democratic primary is more progressive than the incumbent Dem (see Lieberman, Joe and Lamont, Ned) then it makes sense to work and vote for that particular individual.
2) If the DSCC or DCCC butts in to try and ram a candidate down the throats of the voters, it is OK to call them out and open that particular "tactic" up for discussion. It is also OK to donate to individual candidates rather then these respective "clearinghouses" if you believe that the road being taken by Howard Dean is the correct path to returning the Democratic Party to its core beliefs.
3) When the primaries are over, and a candidate is chosen, even if it is not your particular candidate, and even if you strongly disagree with his/her positions, then you are obligated to invoke rule 4, which clearly states:
4) Consider the alternatives!!! Pull the (D) lever so we can get the damn House and Senate back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I missing something here???

4. In the end most of us, |
|
even the most vocal, sulk and invoke Rule #4. There'll come a day when it'll be hard to differentiate the least worst and then what happens? Bear, we may need another rule! :)

6. The only thing that you are missing |
|
are the coattails.
In NYS, I have been very disappointed with Hillary Clinton. I will be working for Hillary Clinton (carrying petitions, GOTV - getting out the vote) this year. She is going to win, big. She may have some coattails for other NYS dems to grab on to.
There are a couple good progressives running against Hillary. Should I help them as well? I think that I might, but I would rather get dems elected. I am not sure what to do.
