The GOPs 'Family Values' and McKinney and loyalty. |
|
It's just occured to me that when the GOP refers to 'family values' - it's a code word for their own tight knit (altho enormously dysfunctional) family. Keep close, stick up for each other, same boat, protect each other at all costs, etc., etc., It's only in the very recent past that some Republicans are speaking out against 'the family', but that's expected seeing as Remember November is coming up. I think most would agree that that trait has done well for them and does well for any close unit whether it's immediate family or in wider circles.
It's my observation, from all the talk about McKinney, that too many here are lacking in that very thing - loyalty. I understand that there have been many huge dissapointments in these past horrible 5 years, and sometimes you have to change your positions and loyalties - but hopefully this is done through a thoughtful process and not just based on 'some people say' theories.
Maybe that's a DNA/Dem thing, as loyalty seems to be in short supply in the halls of power as well.
I thought that McKinney was held in high regard here. That she was appreciated for her too often lonely and brave voice against the things we all despise about the administration. I recall some of her speeches shortly after 911 and I was amazed at her! I couldn't believe she would be allowed to say some of the things she did.
Well, maybe she won't be able to in quite that same way in the next while. Would it be a victory if McKinney is found guilty of assualting an officer and has to serve time?
Who would be the winners and who would be the losers if that happened?

If the views expressed about this incident, reflect the character of we the people...we are indeed in for a world of hurt. Perhaps, this is what a crumbling society looks like?

2. No loyalty problem here |
|
I support her until it is PR OVEN beyond a reasonable doubt that she did something wrong. The Rethugs are drooling at the mouth with the prospects that this divide us and get us fighting ourselves. It will only benefit them.

it wouldn't be a victory for the Dems at all.
but defending her or attacking her, without evidence isn't helping her either.
