Jeb Bush criticizes the Katie Harris campaign.

Link From WaPo: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/06/AR2006040601212.html

Republican Gov. Jeb Bush complained Thursday that Katherine Harris has made her struggling Senate campaign about herself instead of the record of the Democratic incumbent.

"I am the party leader. I've got concerns," the governor said in response to a reporter's question. "The campaign can't be about her. It has to be about Bill Nelson and the future of our state and so far, she asked my advice and I gave her that exact advice and it's gotten worse since."

Asked if the issues surrounding Harris' campaign have made it difficult for Republicans to win the race in November, Bush said, "You're right."

The Poor Little Rich Girl just can't seem to do anything right.

23. I'm a resident of Florida, and honestly....
I don't view Jeb based on his brother. Jeb's an entirely different kind of politician and quite frankly, in my opinion, a VERY different kind of man.

Jeb Bush's overall leadership of Florida to this point, while maybe not perfect, has not been all that bad. He's tackled a number of serious issues during his tenior but when you look back at his role as Governor and the decisions he has made during that tenure you see that generally he's been conservative. Conservative like old-school conservative. Nothing outrageous. At the least, whether you agree or disagree with a lot of his decisions, he's been a decent governor. And don't forget the EXCELLENT job the guy did when his state was being hit by FOUR MAJOR HURRICANES in one year. Two of those storms were absolutely devastating to the areas affected. But they got the water, and the food, and the housing to those areas IMMEDIATELY.

Granted, the 2000 election nightnmare and Jeb Bush's role in it really leaves a terribly sour taste in my mouth but, his job as Governor has swayed me to at least view him somewhat favorably. Heck, at the beginning of his tenure his daughter was having a CRACK COCAINE drug problem. They got her the help she needed and the young lady moved on with her life.

I think what I'm trying to say is that although I'm a liberal and I've never voted anything but Democratic for the last twelve years, that doesn't mean I HATE all Republicans, even if they happen to be the brother of the one man on this earth I really do HATE. The weird thing is, Jeb is MUCH more like his father than his brother. I'd still rather have a Democratic President, but Jeb might have been tolerable compared to W.

36. jeb bush has all but dismantled many fla.state career service programs
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 06:38 AM by flordehinojos
in florida; he has cut many programs for the elderly; the sick; and the poor; jeb wants to cut liberal arts programs from elementary schools in florida, perhaps he aleady has and,--if that is not a way to thought-control, i don't know what is! jeb has peddled his hypocritical faith based programs on the florida scene and shirked state responsibility by shifting many of it to church based charity programs; (and as far as noelle goes, we the public don't know beans about where she is, or what she is doing...and someone will have to work very hard to convince me that that judge who did not send her to jail when she was in that drug rehabilitation program wasn't bought by the bushits--because i believe he was; under jeb many services which should have remained public services have been privatized--universities have shifted from a liberal arts foundation to being a business run outfit without the first hint of the liberal arts/humanities foundation which lifts men and women to a higher thinking plane, not to mention the fact, of course, that tuition for state run higher education as gone through the roof--thus, eliminating many who would otherwise have pursued some college education in order to pursue some american middle-class dream; jeb has also pushed F-Cat teaching of our kids in schools--something which is equal to rote parroting of something without the real learning that kids could otherwise be doing; jeb was the key which allowed the bushes to steal our florida votes in election 2000 from hell; jeb is just as ruthless and as opportunistic as his brother...his hands have not been into the degree of power that his brother's have...and maybe that is why you've not seen his repressive hands --perhaps you should read Pizzo's account of Bush Family Values and scroll down to the John Ellis Bush part--you might find some interesting stuff there. this is the link:

http://www.topplebush.com/article9_busdeal.shtml

there is a lot more, but i think you get my drift.

edited to add: and if all this was not enough, jeb is saying that Harris' Campaign should be about Bill Nelson--which is code word for THE-BUSH-SMEAR-ATTACK-ON-THEIR-OPPONENTS which is based on filthy lies that they pay people like LEE ATTWATER (REQUESQUIAT IN PACE), KARL ROVE, SWIFT BOAT LIARS FOR UNTRUTH, and others to spread lies upon lies about their opponents because, jeb like his brother and his father know that if they ran an honest campaign about what they could and would do if elected they would not have one single damn leg to stand on.

Harris for once might be trying to do the right thing--or atone for what she did wrong--by making her campaign about her and not about her opponent. she may, after all, not share the bush family values...even when she prostituted herself to give them the key to their heaven.

I think Jeb is just a little bit more in the "stealth" mode however. Or, to put it another way, Dumbya is too stupid to be as sneaky as Jeb.

3. He had better keep his trap shut
(although I hope he doesn;t). That woman is not stable and if he pisses her off she may start spilling the beans on the crooks down in Fla. On second thought, maybe they want to make her out to be a wack job so that when she does start talking they can claim it's the sour grapes ranting of an unstable person.

That was JEB's opening gambit....he's running...he's trying to get Harris out of the race and then he can step in as the Republican's GREAT WHITE HOPE and "save" the party...

That's what this is all about.....

It reads in the cheap seats....

20. This whole bush dominion
is out to put a a family member or crony in the president's office. Senior Bush has a big family and an even bigger list of people he owns or blackmails.

Once we get hitler out of office, we have to watch that we do not get another bushman to take his place.

37. Bingo! But this isn't Jeb's opening gambit ...
Jeb's opening gambit was months ago when he put forth Allen "who?" Bense as a potential candidate to run against Harris. Allen Bense (the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives) was never a legitimate candidate. He has no statewide name recognition. The Governor put him out there, and Bense turned him down. That left a hole in the ticket, and I have believed for months Jeb intends to step in as the savior of the party - just as you say.

I'm a little surprised at the timing. I thought he would have done it by now. But maybe he's waiting for her to fully self-destruct, so that he can jump into the race with a clean conscience.

The really sad thing is that Bill Nelson is taking Florida Democrats for granted. I'll vote against the Republican candidate, but I know Democrats who have vowed not to vote for Nelson because of his positions. I almost made such a promise when he said he was undecided about the Alito nomination. He "leads" the Democrats of a key state, and he was waffling on something so obvious? I wish we had some better choices.

41. Good call
I think the reason JEB hasn't jumped into the race yet is because Harris balked at the advice (coughblackmailcough) from Republican regulars to withdraw from the race. Her stubbornness is causing JEB to step in where he didn't want to...he wanted to stand by "innocently" while she withdrew. Hopefully she'll stay in until after the filing deadline and really complicate life for JEB...

ahhhhhhh.....

I love the smell of Republicans self-destructing in the morning...it smells like...VICTORTY!

Interesting. I had lunch with two republicans today (work related.) One hates her with every fiber of his being, the other is freaked out and disgusted by her. I just sat back and listened to the two of them go back & forth about her change of staff, lock chnages, etc. THEN...they said they were happy with Bill Nelson because, after all, he's really a republican. Hoo boy, glad I'm moving back to New England soon.

NOT THAT! You know what I mean, I hope she stays in the race until the bitter end, and it looks like it's getting increasingly bitter with each passing day. She's a stubborn, vain woman and Jeb is a spoiled rotten Bush-brat. The sparks could really be flying before this is over. She knows where a lot of Jeb's bodies are buried so if he pisses her off too much it could get real juicy. "Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned" and I'm betting Kate, shrew that she is, will tear Jeb's head off and shit down his neck.

This is going to get good!

32. So, let me get this straight...
When Democrats dare criticize the President, or a Republican on his/her record, they're playing partisan politics because they're the party of no ideas.

When Republicans criticize a Democrat on his/her record, it's good politics, because Republicans are "the idea party".

Obviously, what's good for the goose is NOT good for the gander.

So, to summarize the world according to Bush:

Democrats attacking Republicans = bad politics.
Republicans attacking Democrats = good politics.

Just making sure I got it right.

Thanks Governor, for clearing that up.
