Why wont they admit to Global Warming? |
|
Does anyone know why these asshats refuse to admit to Global Warming? Really I tried to talk to these idiots and all I get is a blank look and a shrug right before they walk away. Have you ever talked to anyone that has given you a credible explanation about why they refuse to admit this fact? Grr- sorry I had to vent people are just so damn frustrating at times.

(at least for a time) while we start to explore alternate energy sources.
It's the ostrich mentality. If you don't see or hear it, it doesn't exist.

nothing is important enough to risk altering the status quo. they know in their hearts that it is probably true, just as they know that the gas is going to run out. their culpability (which is the same as any other amurkan's) is just to horrible to face.
once a crisis hits, though, they'll sure squeak plenty loud about how someone else should have done something.

4. That's the old meme: "It isn't happening." |
|
The new meme is that it's happening but it's a natural earth process that happens on a cyclical basis.
Which is BS.
Geez, don't you read FReepers? :eyes:

5. They have admitted it in a limited way. |
|
Polar Bears (as an example) are going to be gone from the wild shockingly soon, so they had to say something.
The place they are lying is suggesting that it's a natural phenomena instead of an man-made fact.

First of all, they are in bed with the oil companies. Secondly, the second coming is going to hit us any day now. So who cares what happens to the earth? It doesn't make any difference, since all the fundie RWers believe they will be in heaven anyway.

8. What George WIll says: |
|
"Suppose the Earth is warming and suppose the warming is caused by human activity. Are we sure there will be proportionate benefits from whatever climate change can be purchased at the cost of slowing economic growth and spending trillions? Are we sure the consequences of climate change -- remember, a thick sheet of ice once covered the Midwest -- must be bad? "

18. his fallacy: adaptation will 'slow economic growth' |

it will redirect it away from current models into an unknown future.
perhaps we would even question our assumptions regarding what growth should be.

make any difference. Others perceive people concerned about the environment as hippes....don't want anything to do with them. And then of course, the greedy bastards that don't want to spend a penny on something that won't give them an immediate return.

15. How many conservative businesspeople do you know? |
|
My wife's old boss was very conservative. We'd get into any discussion, and I'd blast him with a hundred facts, and he'd shake his head with a condescending smirk and tell me that liberals where always saying that stuff. He had no logical reasoning faculties anywhere in him. Never asked questions. Just went forward, full steam ahead. When Bush was elected, I told him his company would be gone within a year, because Bush's policies favored big business. About eight months later he sold his company to a larger competitor for a lot of money. I told him, "See, your company no longer exists, because you sold it to a larger company." Same condescending head shake. "But I made a lot of money off it," he said. "I made more money by selling it than I could have by owning it." I tried to explain that that was exactly what I predicted would happen, that the company would be less profitable under a Republican system. All he saw was the money he got for the company, not the golden eggs the company would have kept laying if the playing field had not been tipped to big business.
No reasoning ability. Only the ability to see immediate results, and the lack of concern with anything long-term.
Republicanism isn't an ideology, it's a brain malfunction.

16. Oh, some admit that it's happening -- |
|
hey just won't accept that we have anything to do with it. It's all sun cycles, and dust in space and natural phenomena. And some of it may be.
But the evidence is clear that the burning of fossil fuels is exacerbating the problem, at the very least. And that gets the oil companies involved.
And therin lies the rub.
