It is wrong to say, as Time Magazine has it, that "Iraq was a mistake" |
|
Saying "Iraq was a mistake" in a sentence without any actors makes it sound like everyone was in on the screw up. The accurate statement is "The people who opposed the war were right and the people who supported the war were wrong, sanctimonious, and duped by a bunch of con artists. And the supporters of the war were doubly wrong because they wilfully ignored the anti war crowd who were telling them the war was going to be a mistake."
But obviously the more accurate statement doesn't fit into a headline.

It irritates me when they keep saying Americans were duped into supporting this war. No, all of us were not.
