From
allpoetry.com It just sort of seems a little appropriate at the present time.
Beautiful gem floating in space
Azure and emerald beauty
Birthplace of possibilities
Shining perfection
Perfect symbiosis
Every cell works with the next.
Behold Mother Earth.
Then, viral infection.
Bipedal mutants
Arrive on her face.
Hacking and slaying,
Attacking her systems.
Destroying the foliage
Which acts as her lungs.
Symbiosis broken.
Virus mutates,
Grows spores of metal,
Better adapted
To spread cross her lands
Pumping out toxins,
Mindless, moronic
Temperature rising,
It doesn't give a damn.
Sea levels rising,
Forced to fight for resources
Virus splits, warring factions
Evolving new weapons,
Bristling spines,
Each bringing death.
Battles rage on
Viral DNA
Programmed for destruction.
Behold Mother Earth,
Barren and molten
Radioactive wasteland
Where nothing survives
Except shattered dreams
Viral invaders
Having seeded destruction
Hurl themselves space-wards
To find other worlds.........
