assuming that iran IS a nuclear threat and that war is justified, |
|
we should be all be (especially the hawks on this one) ROYALLY PISSED that people died, allies were offended, ordnance spent, money was lost, and our nation's status was frittered away on the WRONG FUCKING COUNTRY!!!!
it's one thing to have a military excusion that was optional but that's the end of it. it's another thing to have a military exursion that is optional WHEN TROOPS ARE NEEDED ELSEWHERE!
personally, i think this is the boy who cried wolf, and i can't believe shrub even if iran IS a threat. i'd certainly rather take my chances on a delay and see what the next DEMOCRATIC potus has to say about iran. but if i were to think war on iran was justified, i'd be insanely pissed about iraq right now.
maybe it's a big joke, oops, no wmds, when the troops weren't needed elsewhere. but if we have to go to war with iran and our situation is at a disadvantage because of tired troops and so on from iraq, well, there will be political hell to pay. the real military people are NOT gonna like that.

4. "pre-emptive" is not an excuse for an invasion period. |
|
but i'm trying to focus on our military preparedness and iraq's negative effect on that.

6. Actually, ANY country in the world |

(except China) that would even think about attacking us would be considering suicide. The US currently has more WPM and nuclear weapons than the rest of the world combined. I don't fear attacks from other countries. The only danger we are in is from our own government and from terrorist groups (which our government doesn't really seem to be interested in protecting us from).
All the rhetoric about the US being in physical danger from any other country is pure bullshit propaganda to control the masses. I do worry about China in the future, though. China will be the country to "bury" us and they probably won't have to use a single weapon. When China hits its stride, we will probably collapse just like Russia did when it ran out of resources to keep up with the US.
Edit: The sad fact is that we are probably perfectly capable of remaining strong if we had leaders with intelligence and foresight.

Nothing more true in a country that has ONLY been attacked directly 3 times in it's entire 240 year history! Irrational to the point of transparently dishonest to even have this 'fear' as a central plank in any discussion let alone in a foreign policy discussion.
But what do we know--apparantly the enemy is ALWAYS coveting that grand old American Way of Life and so the lemmings goosestep after everyone from Indian call center workers, to illegal Mexicans, to bark-soup slurping Koreans to starving and sick Iraqis, to nutbar religious figures, etc etc, never ONCE bothering to look at the small details.
