Goodbye bowtie (Tucker Carlson)

MSNBC Cable; NBC News; Tucker Carlson
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you’ve watched the show before, you may have noticed that I look different. I’m not wearing a bow tie. This is odd for me. I’ve worn a bow tie on television every night for the past six years, and for 15 years off-air before that. Since I was in the 10th grade. I like bow ties. I’ve certainly spent a lot of time defending them.

But from now on, I’m going without. No ties at all.

No, I didn’t lose a bet. It is not a political statement. I didn’t ditch the bowtie as a protest, or in solidarity with any oppressed group. It’s not a ratings ploy. I just decided I wanted to give my neck a break. A little change is good once in a while. I feel better already.

So to the three of you who watched for the bowtie, I’m sorry. To the rest of you, who don’t take a position on neckwear one way or the other, we now return to our regularly scheduled programming.....

6. Jon Stewart humiliated him out of that tie
Bow ties look so dorky, why do men wear them?

There are few and far apart any men who look good in
bow ties.

He still is a dork and yucky.

I say he should keep the bow tie. But, I'm partial to truth in advertising.

McKinney-style. Without the 7th grade spelling bee look nobody would know who he was.

18. Well, at least he was being honest when he wrote:
"So to the three of you who watched for the bowtie, I’m sorry"

Actually, he would have been more honest if he wrote: "So to the three of you who watched my show, I’m sorry"

16. Translation: Tucker-we want you to attract the younger, hipper
crowd that Olbermann catches every night. Screechy Rita was not able to do it, so we are gonna move you to Prime Time. The only thing is--you gotta lose the tie.

And the execs at NBC just told him so. Next, he'll be wearing love beads and promoting Suburu Outbacks. What a shill.

20. How about a crew cut?
Tucker says he's against the war, but he sure does attack other people who are against the war every chance he gets, and he advocated voting for the bastards who got us into Iraq. I say he put his money where his mouth is.

21. The tie wasn't the problem...

I thought Tucker had a little hope. He certainly has attacked Bush from time to time. But, alas. He still is a arrogant lil Republican guy who has the 'short man's' syndrome. Many shorter guys do not suffer from this...But, there are a few who feel they have to compensate for their lack of height with being arrogant, bullying, condescending, insulting....

Tucker is the classic example.

Perhaps, he is suffering from being small in other areas as well (we know he has a small brain)!

probably got teased mercilessly in high school (and I would have been one of the teasers)

btw, he's pretending he wrote this piece for only 3 people? why bother making a big deal of it then? what a dork!

his bow tie was gone. I think he overestimates his impact! I did turn to my husband to ask him if he knew Tucker wears a toupee. Hmmmmm.

30. What it is, is he's a whore, pure and simple.
Way back when he used to follow Keith's show he was somewhat more liberal. Then he got the slot after Joe Blow and oops turned into the nasty little turd rethug he always was.

Guess what the giant brains at MSNBC now have wised up to the fact that Keith's audience isn't sticking around for Cosby's, help white girl in trouble stories. And now have scheduled Tucker back after Keith. So of course losing the bowtie is the first step for us to forget what a dick he truly is. Yes they think we are that stupid!

I'm the last person to criticize another for gaining weight, but while waiting for Countdown to start one night, I noticed he has plumped up a bit. Stress eat over low ratings much, Tucker?

32. will he be dressing like Ron Reagan now?
Reagan dresses in the hip liberal fashion. He always looks great, and contemporary. I don't think Tucker can pull that off, nor can he pull off the sartorial splendor of Keith Olbermann.

...he still reminds me of Chris Elliot's character in "Cabin Boy."

He still has the hair, so all he needs now are the shortpants. :eyes:

That's gotta be it. I've been wearing plain-old Levis since I was a teenager, and I've NEVER been able to get a dozen 20 year old cheerleaders to do me in a hot tub! Clearly it is time to change my brand of pants.
