Yep, King George is out there defending Donald Rumsfeld, his Secretary of Defense. And he's doing so while totally ignoring the blood dripping from Rumsfeld's fangs and claws.
It truth, what the hell's the difference whether he dumps Rumsfeld or not? You think he's going to replace him with a sane, capable, human being? Given King George's history of replacements, he'd probably dig up Attila the Hun, prop up his bones in the Oval Office, and announce he was the best man for the job.
Actually, he could do even worse by appointing one of his brothers, like Jeb or Neil. Jeb would screw the military like he's been screwing Florida for the last seven years, and Neil would make the Pentagon budget disappear just like he did with all the assets of Silverado Savings and Trust.
So even though Rumsfeld is an incompetent, lying sack of raw sewerage, the real problem is Bush and Cheney. Until they're gone, (hopefully spending the rest of their lives in a jail cell), nothing will change.

1. a nice analysis. And you are right about the real culprits. |
|
a rummie change will only bring someone worse, at least until Cheney is gone and Bush is impeached.

3. Bush won't fire Rummy because... |
|
...Rummy is doing EXACTLY the job he was hired to do! The agenda is being carried out PERFECTLY and a bunch of whiners who don't know what's REALLY going on aren't going to force him out of office!

4. Actually, I really fear a military coup d' etat. |
|
In many ways, I'd love to see a sane group of the top brass toss the entire BushCo criminal mob into a dungeon. Millions would cheer them on and endorse their actions.
The problem is, what then?

The fish stinks from the head. The pig Rumsfeld is just a symptom. If this was Latin America, the military would have revolted by now.
