Berlusconi suffers new blow to election hopes
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Silvio Berlusconi's efforts to overturn a razor-thin defeat to center-left opposition leader Romono Prodi suffered a blow when a recount was much smaller than expected, according to reports on Saturday.

Judges were reviewing only 5,266 contested ballot papers in the two houses of parliament, rather than the 82,000 ballots expected immediately after last weekend's election.

Such a small scale review all but ruled out the possibility that Berlusconi's government might be declared the winner. The opposition's margin of victory in the lower house was 25,000 votes.

Prodi claimed victory, saying "the game is over."

1. It will be a few weeks untill it dawns on him that most of his
priviledges are gone and wont come back. Then he can start worry about a few court cases which he no longer can squirm his way out of by abusing those priviledges.
