New Podcast by Wes Clark: Defends Generals Speaking Up! |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 08:35 PM by Clarkie1
General Clark defending the Generals:
"These are all solid people. They are all non-political people...somehow common sense hasn't percolated up the chain of command."
"They don't speak out easily about matters like this...they've searched their conscience...they know they will be attacked..."
"Why shouldn't people at the top of the chain of command be held accountable?"
"This country is on a road to nowhere under the leadership of President George Bush...maybe we'll get through to the American people."
More here...(he speaks for about 10 minutes)

2. it is an irony that these are all ground troop generals |
|
it is an irony that these are all ground troop generals that never got 3 stars and lost resources in the the transition from a cold war army, being caught in the up or out military regimen. that said, most faught and lead in iraq and have opinions that must be respected.

3. The irony is purely in how partisan politicos |
|
can dismiss cold facts and brave warriors who have nothing to gain other than doing what they feel is right.

I just listened to it also, and I wish there was a transcript so I could quote from it. Clark has those General's backs, plus Clark took on General Myers directly about his fundamental misconception about how a Democracy is supposed to function. Major media should be covering what Clark said on this one but somehow I suspect they won't. Still, I hope it is listened to widely, it is a thoughtful, clear and powerful statement.

6. This was very impressive |
|
I hope this gets picked up. Wes talked about each of the generals, and how he knew them. These weren't the top generals, but they all had important jobs, and knew what was going on in Iraq. I think it is really important that he speaks out for these men just as the White House is spinning that they are disloyal.
