Ripped off at the gas pump?
Keep a permanent black marker, like a Sharpie, in your car. Every time you fill up, write "Thanks Bush, you BASTARD" with an arrow pointing at the price per gallon.

Do it EVERY time you get gas. Everywhere.

I used to make sure no one was watching, now I don't give a damn. Turns out people will either laugh or say "right on". I hope they go get markers and start doing it too.

3. vandalism is never right.
and it's not only *'s fault that gas prices are "high"...americans have been s.u.v.-ing their brains out, sucking up far more than their fare share of the go-go juice, and paying far less than they should for it for a long time.

7. how so...?
did he design build buy and drive all the s.u.v's on america's roadways?

did he somehow stop america from developing light rail systems to go along with the interstate highway system after ww2?

it's not ALL *'s fault at all.

9. and people were buying SUVs like crazy during Clinton's term
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 02:35 AM by barb162
the fact is Americans are nuts for their big gas guzzlers and way before that and don't give a shit about what a waste of world resources they represent. Now if you want to do that to the SUVs with the "we support the troops" ribbons on the back, that's fine!

11. While our driving habits are reprehensible, they are not the cause of
$3.00 p/gal gasoline. Look at the price of oil and the profits of the oil companies in 2000 and compare them to today's. Why are the prices so much higher? Consumption has not increased nearly that much. We have an entire administration of oil men, and an energy policy written by those it most effects. C'mon... :eyes:

18. worlwide demand HAS increased-
there's these two little countries called china and india- maybe you've heard of them...? they have burgeoning consumer classes, and have been busy busy busy buying oil future contracts- the u.s can't expect to consume 25% of the world's energy(and at bargain-basement prices) with less than 5% of the population forever.
ask a european how much they've been paying for gas, and for how long.

it's about time americans learn to pony up their fair share- i'm hoping for $4.00/gallon by memorial day.

34. If you had bothered to actually look up the facts before excusing
the criminal looting, you would've found that the increase in consumption doesn't begin to approach the increase in price. No, it is all *'s fault and by extension, the fault of idiots that buy the BS they feed to distract.
BTW, before you make up the next fake argument to justify the looting of amerika, I make my living in the commodities market. Therefore, I am personally enriched by the process of theft that your "innocent dupe" has initiated.

8. Yeah, it'd be
kinda hard to punish the kids if Mom's doing it as a 'political protest'. As for the SUVs - the president touted big vehicles as being safer, all the manufacturers kept or started churning out luxury cruisers and here we are, trapped as usual. They literally have us going and coming...

20. nobody forced anyone to buy an suv-
too many americans are lazy, stupid, and selfish- and that applies to most suv owners/buyers. our family of five did just fine without ever owning one.

otherwise, i don't see how being "afraid" to run their furnace would qualify them as lazy or selfish- stupid & cold, maybe... but not necessarily selfish or lazy.

30. growing up we had a ford galaxie 500
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 11:26 PM by QuestionAll
later, my parents added a charger se.

right now, my wife and i have 1 car between us- a 2001 vw new beetle.

in between the galaxie and the new beetle, i've owned a wide variety of vehicles...from a suzuki 550 to a vw microbus to an olds 98 and lots in between...NONE of them were bought "new" by me, and 5 of them were amc pacers(perhaps explaining my affinity for the new beetles). my favorite was a 69 lesabre convertible.

32. Built from the inside
Isn't that how they described the Pacer. Oh, I loved that car! What ever happened to AMC? The Eagle was a great vehicle as well. Most people with kids or wheelchairs could really get away with something no bigger than a minivan or Explorer. I just don't get the affinity folks have for the Hummer. When I no longer had to haul my kids around with me everywhere I went, I felt guilty driving my larger vehicle and downsized. I no longer have room to haul them and their friends around the universe - an unexpected bonus!

How many "work-related" Hummers are cruising main street because Bush made the price of such vehicles deductible as a business expense?

15. Sorry Maddie, but
You can't lay that one on da shrub as much as I'd like to. It was originally a tax credit to help tradesmen afford trucks, and it goes back into the 90's at least.

25. Exactly Maddy--bush escalated this mentality like he has everything else
Pick a trend in which the public was behaving badly and bush endorsed, rewarded and encouraged it the minute he inserted himself into office.

It's just like this whole illegal issue...yeah, we had illegal workers filling jobs that didn't pay crap in the 90's too but not to this extent and it wasn't openly encouraged, rewarded and lobbied for like it has been over the last 5 years.

bushit IMO opinion has escalated EVERYTHING counterproductive in this country...it's all part of his plan to rip the United States apart at the seams.

Where there was once some kind of check and balance system now it's every man for himself with no oversight whatsoever.

5. I made a bunch of stickers on mailing labels that say
<--- this is what happens when Republicans vote.

And I stick them so the arrow points right at the price indicator.

Saves time and is more easily readable.

16. I like that,
mailing labels make great stickers, and don't hurt anything

I print up mailing labels with Bush's Record, "Bush Doesn't Care About You", and "Dear America, Thanks for all the money, Sorry about the dead kids -- Halliburton". I stick them on Bush stickers & other places. Haven't had much luck getting them to stick to gas pumps, they're usually not clean enough.

12. a sacred gift
oh what a sacred gift to stand in a gas station,
holding a putrid fuel hose aloft,
watching the numbers click in succession,
painfully as my pay check ticks off,
bearing a cross for the oil profession.

From my cruicified hill with my thieves,
I will watch the philistine posession,
daily, moment by moment, life grieves,
profound golden silent passion.

Pushpaka the chariot of gods,
fueled by the blood of the earth,
awaking thunderous unconscious clods,
fuel pumping, a chance for rebirth.

In a world without attachment to wealth.
Oh it matters rather more, love's heatlh.

26. dumb, dumb, dumb.
for so many reasons.

1) Vandalism is wrong.

2) Vandalising property in a place where you're gonna get caught is arguably even wronger. Certainly not real bright.

3) Why should Joe Stupid believe that gas prices are Chimpy's fault? I mean, he might just do that, but where's the connection? And what is our answer? Lower gasoline taxes? That's not gonna happen, nor should it.

4) I seriously doubt you really do this. Come on--people say "right on?" What is this, something you cribbed out of "The Hippie Menace," (c) 1968 John Birch Society Press?

28. Ripped off? - wait till they surpass $4.00 per gal - bring smelling salts
Bush has even managed to keep your personal travel limiting, now if he can figure a way to curb your cell-phone use that would be extremely useful, perhaps Gonzo's latest inquiry into internet pages visited by americans is a start.

Hey, it's barely $3.00 bucks a gallon, here in the sunshine state it's only $2.88, when we get to $4.00, this will "SEEM" cheap.

33. Not a good idea-
I share your anger, but, c'mon, we live so frickin' fat in the U.S. Did you grow up with a petrochemically green lawn, eat your share of red meat (huge expenditure of gas raising beef), fly the friendly skies, go for long drives, etc. etc.? We are all at fault for being wasteful energy hogs.

Also, this does not make us look more appealing than the alternative in any way. I seriously doubt that some freeper will read that message and think, "Gosh, those angry progressives are right. I better register Democrat."

Now taping a picture to the pump of * kissing the prince is not so bad.
