MSN Headline: "Halloway Case Continues to Intrigue Nation" |
|
I work with a good cross section of people in a hospital and not one person I know talks about this case. It doesn't intrigue the nation it intrigues the media--especially the 24 hour news outlets.

I have no idea why this crap preoccupies anyone.
Is this the way our so-called civilization ends, I wonder?

2. The media is doing what they're told - the more HOURS spent in Aruba, the |
|
less hours spent discussing the real crimes and failures of BushInc.

5. The only facet that intrigues me is the media selling this crap 24/7 |
|
A planned distraction story by a compliant media.

7. I'm mildly curious about it, but far more interested in Bush's many crimes |
|
The media acts as though we can only handle one story at a time. Heck, most Americans can watch three crime dramas or six sitcoms in a single evening and tell you whether those episodes measured up to the last six seasons of each show.
Give us a blurb on Holloway when you learn something, but then get back to the mountain of stuff you know about Bush. He should have been imprisoned by now. The only question facing America right if the media had done their jobs is whether to impeach President Hastert.

8. The corporate news media is trying to make money. That's it. |
|
No amount of bitching and pleading will get the corporate news outlets to cover stories that may be of national significance but hold no shock value or entertainment value. They are in the business of ratings, not covering the news. Sure, there are many who try to aspire to be far more than that, but the lowest common denominator is simple profit seeking. The only way it will change is if you take the profit out of reporting the news and leave behind the people who are in it to find the truth, not make money.

10. But did you see the NEW BOOK! "Aruba" by her Dad? I posted about that... |
|
...today too, at this link: < http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x957237> It's totally ridiculous the amount of time they are wasting on this May 2004 case.

... they seem to devote 20 minutes per hour of broadcast time to Halloway/Duke. The first, she is gone to a brothel somewhere; the second the DA is in a campaign mode, but there is more coming out daily. These are local news items that do not deserve nationwide/worldwide news coverage every hour.

I feel great compassion for this family. I have a teenage daughter and I can't imagine losing her. BUT, this has been given more TV time then I could have ever imagined. I don't know what they are finding to talk about at this point. I know there are other people with tragedies that never got this publicity.

16. It can only intrigue a nation that is high in those that are ignorant, |
|
lazy, incurious...whoops, found myself talking about Bush* ! Perhaps it intrigues the empty heads that are pushing this hogwash. For me, TV has become completely useless.
