Yup. Today is one fucked up three-year anniversary...
Today, three years ago today, this was posted on the White House website:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/nationalsecurity/disarm.html

This page says Iraq posessed 26,000 liters of anthrax, 38,000 liters of botulinum toxin, 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agents (500 tons = 1,000,000 pounds), almost 30,000 munitions capable of delivering chemical agents, mobile biological weapons labs...

According to this page, Iraq had "an advanced nuclear weapons development program, a design for a nuclear weapon, and was working on methods of enriching uranium for a nuclear bomb." Likewise, Iraq "recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa, according to the British Government." Again likewise, Iraq "has attempted to purchase high strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons, according to our intelligence sources."

Oh yeah, pssst, "Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including al-Qaida members. He could provide hidden weapons to terrorists, or help them develop their own. It would take just one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known."

It's still on the White House website.

Three years gone.

1. Interesting they still have it on their website.
Given that we all know a little better now.

4. Amazing.... the ridiculous and the sublime.
Probably not so amazing that "they" are as inane as most of us believe.
This confirms that.
The fact that these "facts" are still posted is sublime, too.
Sublime reminders of the truth -- the truth of their lies and offenses, moral and criminal.

If this was not so sad, it would be funny.

The perfect oxymoron.

So much for Bush's claims that he didn't say that ...

The gravest danger we face in the war on terror is outlaw regimes that seek and possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

* Twelve years ago, Saddam Hussein agreed to disarm all weapons of mass destruction. For 12 years, he systematically violated that agreement.
* Three months ago, the United Nations Security Council gave Saddam his final chance to disarm. He has shown his utter contempt for the U.N.
* The U.N. and U.S. intelligence sources have known for some time that Saddam Hussein has materials to produce chemical and biological weapons, but he has not accounted for them:
o 26,000 liters of anthrax—enough to kill several million people
o 38,000 liters of botulinum toxin
o 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agents
* Almost 30,000 munitions capable of delivering chemical agents
* From three Iraqi defectors, we know that Iraq in the late 1990s had several mobile biological weapons labs. But he has not disclosed them.
* The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed in the 1990s that Saddam Hussein had an advanced nuclear weapons development program, a design for a nuclear weapon, and was working on methods of enriching uranium for a nuclear bomb. He recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa, according to the British Government. He has attempted to purchase high strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons, according to our intelligence sources. Yet he has not credibly explained these activities.
* Thousands of Iraqi security personnel are at work hiding documents and materials from the UN inspectors.
* Iraqi officials accompany all inspectors in order to intimidate witnesses.
* Iraq is blocking U-2 surveillance flights requested by the U.N.
* Saddam Hussein has ordered that scientists who cooperate with the UN be killed, along with their families.
* Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including al-Qaida members. He could provide hidden weapons to terrorists, or help them develop their own. It would take just one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known.

The United States will ask the UN Security Council to convene next week to consider the facts of Iraq’s ongoing defiance of the world. We will consult. But if Saddam Hussein does not disarm, we will act for the safety of our people, and for the peace of the world.

Four outright witting lies and a complaint that there were no U-2 overflights (or does that mean there were overflights but Hussein didn't shoot them down)

23. and it was just as full of shit then
as it is now. i knew it - a lot of people did, i think...that's why the powers that have been assumed by this cretinous warmonger and the lies that are exposed constantly without consequence and the undermining of everything our forefathers set in place...has baffled me. guess i have not wanted to believe that an administration would be so evil. that people would be - worse than ignorant, willfully ignorant.

my daughter was murdered on 7-19-01. gw had been president for a few months, 9-11 was on the horizon. i have clung to and built upon a few words spoken by the rabbi who officiated at her funeral: that in many ways, "Bekah was quite an evolved being." since her death i embrace a belief in evolution - spiritual evolution - and i guess i have not wanted to acknowledge the rude reality. gw is not only alive at this point in time, he is arguably the most powerful man on the planet.

i'm meandering ... almost too discouraged to be pissed anymore.

BUT NOT QUITE GAWDAMMIT
