Jane Fonda on Larry King now. She makes as much sense now
as she did in the 60s.

1. what's that supposed to mean?
making sense, as in being absolutely correct about the criminal invasion of a sovereign nation which was involved in a civil war?

3. That's a very ambiguous statement
Are you praising her, or being critical of her?

I'd say that's a thumbs up for Jane. I can't stomach Larry, but I hope he's treating his ex-boss's ex-wife with the respect she deserves.

7. Now that I've re-read my entry, I can see where someone could
think I was putting her down, but while I was typing it I was thinking it's the highest compliment I could pay her. I think she's brilliant, just as she was in the 60's. She made mistakes, but her message was clear and she was right. I have been a huge fan of Jane forever. Sorry if I threw everybody a curve. She's wonderful.

20. Living in a Red State...
I really appreciated her remark about making a difference in a red state. Sometimes it is very hard living in a red state; her remark helped me realize why I do what I do here. Any little bit I accomplish means something!

11. you're right, unfortunately
she did some good works in Atlanta, for which somebody tried to pass a resolution honoring her. It was defeated fairly resoundingly

I read this in an article that discussed the fact that she's not going to speak out on Iraq for the very reason you mention.

she said that Cindy Sheehan is doing a great job, and that she'd just get in the way.

13. Her book just came out in paperback. I have the book, but must
admit I haven't read it. Bought it to show support, just like Bill's, Hillary's, Kitty Kelley, etc. I spend way too much time reading DU to read a real book. ha

29. You should read Kitty Kelley.
She gives you a whole new look at the Bush family. If you don't like them now, you really won't like them after you read her book and she really only wrote about the things she could verify. It's still pretty damning.

17. Jane Fonda ranks very high among the true American patriots at my
house.

Loved her when she defied the government during the Vietnam years, love her tonight.

Brainy, adventurous, likable, and talented.

A courage teacher.

19. Watched her interview last night on the Charlie Rose show -
she was fantastic. Charlie is out sick so BaBa Walters did the interview. Would have rather seen Charlie but Jane's intelligence came through anyway. She talked about the ideologues pounding her for over 30 years - apparently most of the letters that she (and others) receive are form letters - nothing new. She knows that she is a lightning rod but she is tough.

She is going to be on The View tomorrow or Thursday, in addition to David Letterman tonight.

23. It's ironic--
the difference in the way the "Christians" treat the former AWOL, cowardly, rich man's kid, now "born again" * and the way they treat the bright and articulate former war protestor now born again Fonda. One gets total forgiveness, the other not even a hint of forgiveness.

26. I went to see her last night at my bookstore.
She spoke for a long time before answering questions from the audience.
I always liked Jane Fonda, but after seeing her last night my opinion of her
has soared. She was wonderful...funny, bright, kind and gorgeous (In person she looks much younger}.
