Is Mainstream Dem Position "Keeping Powder Dry 'til see Whites of Eyes"
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 09:07 PM by KoKo01
for Independents and Lefty Repugs a wise strategy? Is keeping Bob Shrum and Donna Brazille out there as our Spokespersons going to attract all the Independents and "true" conservative Repugs we will need to pull our Dem Candidates over the edge in 2006 the best we can do?

Perhaps they truly know more than we out here on the "INTERNETS" DO about STRATEGY or "Strategery" as the "Commander-in-Chief" calls it.

Maybe we out here are really just "rabble rousers" with "no constituency" out there in the realm of those who will turn out and vote.

8. that's what they said in --2002--
they have "a secret plan" that can only be accomplished by handing Chimpy the keys to Iraq
turns out the "secret plan" is the Tangerine Speedo

4. It's to their benefit to retain minority status
It keeps up appearances that there's actually a two-party, adversarial system of gov't and maintains them in PAC-funded comfort. The occasional screech of outrage and frequent hand-wringing (with notable exceptions) is meant to keep the pitchforks and torches at bay and the cash rolling in. Just enough dems will cross over every time so that the repuke agenda gets rammed through. You never see repukes break ranks when it's a close one. Then they'll send someone out to say that the country has become more conservative and they can't risk alienating the non-existent swing voters.

They have almost an identical agenda as the repukes but can't risk being the heavy. Being a little bit sold out is like being a little bit pregnant. If this wasn't so, accountable voting machines would be the only topic they'd agree to discuss with the other side of the aisle until something was done about it.

They now say “trust us” – which is hard to do when they’ve dissembled on weapons of mass destruction, miscalculated the likelihood of an insurgency after invading Iraq, and distorted or suppressed scientific facts on global warming, stem-cell research, and Terri Schiavo. They couldn’t even tell a straight story about a Vice President who didn’t shoot straight. They can’t ask for trust because they haven’t earned it; after five seemingly eternal years in office, they don’t have a credibility gap; they have a credibility chasm.

He told us that in Iraq, “we are winning.” Reporters who’ve covered the war say it is a “blackhole.” A new Pentagon (not peace group) report says our military is so overstretched that we can’t stay long enough in Iraq to quell the insurgency. Economists now calculate the probable cost of this hubristic folly at $2 trillion. (Just think, we could have had free healthcare for all Americans.) With no end in site, with the violence striking Americans, Iraqis, well-guarded officials, and journalists from Jill Carroll to Bob Woodruff, it seems the only safe place is the so-called “green zone,” this war’s equivalent of a gated community surrounded by strife, faction, suicide and roadside bombs. Bush lives in his own reality-free green zone and at the State of the Union he invited the rest of us to join him. We’re “winning:” by what measure, at what cost, and how soon? The presidency has been called a bully pulpit; in his speech made it a pulpit modified by another word that begins with “b.”
