1. That's both surprising and expected at the same time
The guy has no legitimacy at this point.

3. While it's fun to watch the rats flee the ship
This resignation doesn't mean a thing in the larger scope of matters. They will simply replace this Mouthpiece of Sauron with another Mouthpiece, one who is as equally smug, arrogant and stupid.

4. He is an appeasement to the masses.
America is waking up. Bush's polls are in the dumpster. The people want Rumsfeld to step down. They outright hate Cheney. And the "I" word is openly appearing in print and TV. Clearly, the people want this administration dismantled, from the top down.

So, to appease the masses, they throw us a bone. Little Scotty. Other than pass on this amdinistrations lies, what has he done? Has he refused to turn over documents about a secret meeting with oil executives prior to setting administration energy policy? Has he lied to the public about the reasons for a war? Has he arrogantly ignored the recommendations of top military officials and executed a plan of war which we could win the opening salvos of, but never complete successfully?

No. He just stood in front of cameras and defended those actions. Sure, get him out of there. But Don't expect me to give a damn.

We need to hook the big fish. This administrations top dogs must be made accountable, if there is to be any amount of honesty or decency restored to our government.
