Dennis Quaid just admitted he voted for the Shrub in '04
I don't know why, but I have the Today show on in the background. I don't ever watch the show. It was the station it was on when I turned it on. I work from home...like the TV on and don't pay much attention.

But I'm sitting here doing reports. Katie asks him, "And you voted for Gore in '00...and Bush in '04. Correct?"

"Yea Katie. I vote either ways. I'm not a Bush basher."

Well I'm now a Quaid basher.

Hey Dennis. You are THAT guy. The ONE guy that voted for Gore...AND Bush.

You're a fucking idiot. I piss on your movies.

68. Really?
Funny how there seems to be nothing online about that.

And funny how his name never ever came up during the campaign as someone who supported Bush.

IOW, if anyone can provide proof -- by proof I mean Travolta actually saying something like "I think he's been a great president and I will vote for him gladly" not just "I've met the President and I like him a lot", I'll believe it.

69. What I saw was John Travolta on a stage with Bush at a campaign stop....
ON THE STAGE. And there was something about Travolta flying someone around from Bush's entourage. I did post this at least a couple of times with no response. The last time I posted it was during the time of Katrina when Travolta was helping with the Hurricane victims. Again, nobody responded. Hey, I used to be a real big Travolta fan, after I saw and read that, I tried to find Travolta's web site or fan club so that I could write him and ask him how he could support the lunatic. But I couldn't really find anything that looked like it would go to JT. Since then, I cannot look at Travolta the same way. It literally made me sick. Travolta didn't just vote for Bush, he CAMPAIGNED WITH HIM AND FOR HIM. Don't believe me, I don't care, but I know what I saw. Believe whatever you want. I have no reason to lie.

"We can't change presidents in the middle of a war!"

"Bush will be more moderate this time -- he has learned his lesson!"

"He is so natural - not all polished like Kerry!"

"Democrats can't/won't protect us from the terrorists!"

"I Just LIKE him!!!!!"

Edited on Thu Apr-20-06 02:14 PM by Lisa
It's a pretty scathing look at what happened to the Japanese-Americans who were interned during WWII -- and to the non-Japanese who tried to protest this violation of civil rights. Quaid's character is a leftist union organizer. (I am having some trouble imagining how someone who played Jack McGurn could vote for Bush, especially twice in a row.)

Oh, well. I would like to re-screen that movie for him, with me and my folks pointing out that all that stuff really did happen (and some of it has come back again).

63. Frequency is another one.. Quaid is playing the President in the new movie
American Dreamz. He portray's him as a complete idiot who is trying to get smarter. The first time you see him he is, to the shock of his staff, asking for a newspaper. Willem DaFoe plays the Karl Rove character who gives the president his speeches through a wireless ear piece. The movie was pretty lame but some of the stuff with Quaid and DaFoe was pretty funny.

Also Leslie Neilson rips Bush in Scary Movie 4. Nails him on the 7 minutes.

OK, big step back...

He's got a big-ass career in Hollywood. LOTS of people depend upon him...

If he said something critical of Bush NOW, then his portrayal of "Bush" in this new film would be characterized as some slap in the face to all of the Red States, the troops, their Moms, apple pie and Jesus:

American Dreamz would be "blacklisted" by all of the "Red" states via their talk and country radio stations. Boycotts would be formed, and they'd be waiting for the DVDs to come out just to burn them like they burned Beatle records...

So I look at this poster, see what the movie's about.

To make a movie like this, I'll let the guy backpeddle a little...

31. I agree
If Robert De Niro had said "I think Clinton is scum for having an affair" while doing publicity for "Wag the Dog," the vibe of the movie would have been changed completely. So if Dennis Quaid can admit to having voted for * in 2004--which must be pretty embarrassing--I bet he's doing it for a reason.

I hadn't seen that poster before--now I really can't wait to see the movie!

30. After sitting back and thinking about it...
for the sake of the movie, he is smart in coming out and saying he voted for Bush.

I mean, c'mon. He couldn't actually have voted for Gore in '00 and turned around and voted for the shrub in '04.

He would literally (well almost) be the only person who did that.

And by saying that he voted for shrub, then he doesn't alienate all those people that did.

He is starring in a movie that lampoons Bush with him playing a Bush like President who is so out of touch (his inspiration to get back with the people is reading a newspaper for the first time), that his chief of staff (played as a Rovian villian) has him become a judge on an American Idol-type show.

56. No one knew it--
but when our MEDIA was reporting that she was cheating on Quaid, in actuality they were seperated. A fact they did not reveal (prior to media speculation of an affair) because they wanted to deal with it privately for the sake of their son, who was not aware his parents were seperating.

Leave it to the media and the paparazzi to put the word out for everyone, 'eh? :hi:

71. Damn. That's a deal breaker for me
I wish I was able to overlook a person's politics. But, these days, I have to agree with Janeane Garafolo: being a Republican these days is a character flaw. The future of our country is just too important. There's too much on the line. And we're in very precarious times...for the environment. Women's rights. World peace. This insanity in Iraq. The plight of the middle-class. Healthcare.
So. It's sad when one of your crushes turns out to be a Bushie.
I was also disillusioned when I found out Gary Sinise and Robert Duvall are Republicans.
The other Repuke celebs aren't worth the heartache.
I mean, are there really liberal women who don't fantasize about Bruce Willis anymore? Cause we never did in the first place.

73. I'm not going to throw away my copy of "Far From Heaven"
Dennis Quaid has done some terrific films..."Far From Heaven" being but one.

His politics are regrettable, but I'm not going to piss on his films.
