1. depends on the type of theft
and what's being stolen, doesn't it? if I steal a stereo, it's not a financial transaction. If I illegally transfer money out of your bank account to my account in the Caymans, it's a financial transaction.

Better question, I suppose. If I illegally and without your consent wire money from your account to my account, is it still a wire transfer?
