Dang... if a Fox poll has him at 33%, he's in REALLY bad shape.
How on earth he can be rated so poorly on the economy is just beyond me... His PR staff is completely inept.

"In addition, views on the economy are glum; most Americans rate the current economy negatively, and twice as many say it feels like the economy is getting worse rather than better."

I am dead serious when I say there should be a testing process before being allowed to vote. If people actually think this economy is gloomy, they have no business casting ballots. This is where the democratic process is flawed. Even retarded morons have a say.

His PR staff are fucking geniuses to have even kept this jackass at 33% on any poll, if you ask me.

Apparently, anything negative said about Crown Prince Bush must be "from the left."

I don't see how ANYONE could honestly believe he's doing a good job. Even some of my hard line, RW relatives are starting to grumble. When Bush is losing people like my Father in Law, things are really not looking good for him.

49. Or replaced by $6 an hour jobs stocking shelves at Wal-Mart
Just remember, what's good for General Motors Wal-Mart is good for America.

A third of plant jobs evaporate in Mich.

Midwest losing clout as one of world's major automaking hubs, study finds.

DETROIT -- Michigan has lost nearly 1 in 3 manufacturing jobs since 1999 and impending factory closures by automakers and suppliers could further erode the state's position as a major global automotive hub, according to a new analysis by the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor.

Michigan faces a confluence of forces that threaten its bread-and-butter industry, including overseas competition, the rise of the auto industry in the American South and the continued loss of U.S. market share by Detroit's Big Three automakers.

"So this brings up the natural question: Where the heck is the business?" said Sean McAlinden, chief economist for the Center of Automotive Research. "It's really not developing here."

snip

Through 2010, GM and Ford's job cuts should amount to 50,000 hourly workers and 7,000 salary employees. Add cuts by parts maker Delphi Corp. and Automotive Holdings Co., a collection of underperforming plants Ford took over from Visteon Corp., and the worst-case scenario for the region is a loss of 106,200 jobs, McAlinden said.

43. They're Beyond Stupid
Most think that if they watch the little red bouncing ball on the stock market, and if the stock market earns 170 points, then that means the economy is great.

I wish just one of them would look at the great run the stock market had...just prior to that little thing that happened in the 1920's that was called .... THE DEPRESSION

Morons think that if the stock market goes up 10%, then that means we all have 10% more money to spend. They're the same type of morans that see 10 guys in a bar, and when Bill Gates walks in, will scream with joy because the average earnings of the people in the bar just went up.

When I said how was cutting taxes on oil companies was helping the troops, he said well by the taxes on the workers pay rolls are increasing so its more then making up for tax cuts to the companies.

Close the border, repatriate the illegals, deal with those who have employed them, start developing our own oil resources and refining capacity, go nuclear in a big way, challenge the insurance industry to eliminate the waste and implement tort reform,....there is much the Administration can do; but, it would rather face the possibility of impeachment and conviction then abide by the will of our citizens. So what if the Democrats are positioned to gain in November? If the GOP doesn't care, then why should we. Perhaps, the time is ripe for a new party; one that puts the interests of US and its people first.

58. Here is an interesting post
To: BlackRazor

There is a direct correlation between Bush's poll numbers and the price of gasoline Therein lies Bush's problem. To voters, "The Economy" = Gas Prices. That's it. I live in a blue state, and after Iraq, the number one thing people at my workplace bash Bush over is gas prices. Every day, nonstop.

People like the Prez who have lived most of their lives behind the walls of privilege have no idea what we working stiffs face every day with gas prices, illegals in our cities, or anything else that threatens our daily way of life.

With $600 billion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see? Do they think those are meaningless? That you do not need to pay any taxes - just put it on the charge card? They may think there is a free lunch but most folks know otherwise.

79. Bush's "great economy" is bought with bad checks.
If you include money shifted from the Social Security trust fund to mask Bush's real deficits, his ten-year deficit is a staggering $4.7 trillion--compared to Clinton's forecast surplus of $5.6 trillion. (link here: http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1022-26.htm ) To paraphrase Mario Cuomo, if you let me write $4.7 trillion in bad checks, I can create the illusion of prosperity, too.

Oh, Yeah, Weekly Unemployment Claims Are Above 300,000 Once Again

by Steve Soto
After downplaying the fact for weeks that first-time filings for unemployment insurance have gone back over the 300,000 mark, the AP trumpets this morning that in the most recent week, such filings fell 10,000 to only 303,000. Burying the lead, down in the story it indicates that the number of people continuing to collect unemployment benefits increased by 18,000 to 2.439 million, but this is supposedly an improvement because last year at this time there were 200,000 more people on unemployment. So that’s how we measure success in the Bush economy? After a year of supposedly strong economic growth, the best we can do is knock 200,000 people off of the rolls, with a sharp increase in consumer prices last month, $4.50 gas staring some of us in the face, and the leading economic indicators pointing to a slowing economy at the time of the midterm elections?

No, you have that COMPLETELY BACKWARDS. W changed that standard to include almost NOTHING. That 4.7% you guys are talking about is actually closer to a whopping 12% if you apply traditional standards of calculation! No wonder you guys are still thinking everyone is doing great. You're only listening to the rich liars who are raking in millions on the backs of the clueless morans like you!

"Real unemployment right now--figured the way that the average person thinks of unemployment, meaning figured the way it was estimated back during the Great Depression--is running about 12%. Real CPI right now is running at about 8%. And the real GDP is probably in contraction. I venture that if you talked about those numbers now with the average person, they would say that they seem reasonable ... my work shows that the economic perceptions of non-professionals actually have some real validity; there are in fact reasons for the disconnect between official statistics and what the populace is feeling."

Look it up yourself...

112. so when are they going to understand that their "infallible" god
is an OIL MAN with oil buddies? Come on Freeps, tell me true, what do you really think of Cheney having a secret energy meeting with a bunch of corporate cronies? Do you think these high prices are because of the war or because wheeling and dealing with big oil companies? Is the war to control the oil in the ME for the corporations or allow it to free flow for you? Let's see, more and more decent jobs with benefits are going bye-bye, while more and more Americans are forced to accept underpaid jobs or part-time jobs. Yet, CEOs and Bush's "elite" base are making a killing. Food, utilities and gas are all tied to oil. Got it? While our pay is going down the crapper; food, transportation and utilities are going up and up and up!!!!! Hey, and what do you think about the relationship between the Bush family and the House of Saud and the Bin Ladens. What do you think about it, huh? What do you think of Bush's friend James Baker representing the Saudis against the 9/11 families? What do you think?

The conservative movement is dying as we watch.

Sometimes I'd really like to shake Smirky's hand and pat him on the back. Same goes for all the present and future convicted felons of the rethuglican pity.

130. I agree the conservative movement is dying...
...but what I worry about constantly is how much of America is going to be part of the collateral damage. What's going to be left of our Constitution, our economy and US when the smoke clears?

If you're in the top 10%, that is. All the others have likely had wage cuts and/or are paying higher prices for everything nowadays

Edited on Thu Apr-20-06 04:54 PM by oxbow
This as low as we've ever seen him, no? Maybe the GOP is getting ready to finally dump Bush.

Seriesly, I am very surprised that they didn't grade this poll on a curve...;)

135. I see a strong correlation between Bush's sinking poll #'s and the
average IQ of the dwindling posters at FR. Really, the lower Bush goes, the dumber that site gets. They are in complete denial. I'll bet 1/2 the posters work at the RNC and the other 1/2 are too stupid to know they are getting played. I have no use for anyone who won't face reality and admit that their support of the criminal Republican Syndicate is killing this country. They want to hate "the Left", "the liberals", "the DemonRATS", "the Democraps" so much that they refuse to be honest with themselves.

I can't wait to see the quality of posts in another 4-5 months. Their collective intellectual horsepower won't be able to power a virtual lightbulb.

(sounds like the name of a comic book character - and beyond me how a cc reader can be so stupid).

bush is a lying snake whose incompetance let 911 happen, whose incompetance sank New Orleans, and whose lies have resulted in tens of thousand Iraqi civilian deaths, over 2500 US soldier deaths, and many tens of thousands wounded. Bush the asshole has also added trillions to the deficit. That's why anyone with an ability to think can't stand him.
