1. I'd like to see him run again. I'm still a Dennis fan, but I think John E. |
|
has a lot going for him too. :)

6. Me too! My heart belongs to Dennis and I like JE for similar reasons... |
|
Dennis tells the story of his parents struggling to find money to pay the electric & gas bills -- the coins clinking on the table top as they scraped together the money...
John tells the story of his father getting up hours before he had to go to work to watch PBS - watching the TV show that taught high school math for people who wanted to earn a GED.
I BELIEVE THESE MEN KNOW MY LIFE.
I am not at all sure about John Kerry - he means well, he truly does, but he's been wealthy all his life.
Ditto Al Gore - though I can 'feel' Gore more than I feel Kerry.

25. I agree. My heart will always belong to Dennis. |
|
But I thought that Edwards was inspiring during the campaign. I felt that his speech was the best of the convention.:applause:
But I think that we need Al Gore right now. His VP experience and care for the environment make him the right man for our times. A Gore-Edwards ticket would be my first choice, but I'll take what I can get. The next guy who passes me in traffic would have to do a better job than the jokers who we currently have.:eyes:
And don't fall for the RW talking points on Kerry. His wife may be wealthy, and he didn't grow up poor, but he worked his way through school selling encyclopedias door-to-door. It's * who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he somehow managed to give the impression that he's the common man, while Kerry is an upper class, out-of-touch snob.
Kerry has really been stepping up to the plate, lately, speaking out and taking a leadership role. We sure could have used this John Kerry during the campaign.:-(

9. Did you know Dennis is a John Edwards fan? |
|
Somebody (maybe it was on the Daily Show?) was interviewing him during the primaries, and asked which of the other candidates he actually liked hanging out with. Without hesitation, Kucinich said "John Edwards."

I would enthusiastically support Edwards, but I'm hoping Al Gore will step forward to claim the office he was elected to in 2000.

The perfect team to pick up the pieces of this national disaster.
BTW great looking website. I do hope he runs.

4. Edwards voted for the war but has admitted it was a mistake. |
|
That is a good thing in his favor.
His campaign on two Americas was right on target. It will be more on target with two more years of the Insaniator.

I'd like to see him have more experience.
Also, how'd he leave things with Kerry after their loss? It seems I never much saw them together, or heard their names linked, after that...

He seems very heartfelt - the fact that he earned his wealth through hardwork speaks to me, unlike those who just inherit it all. I will support any dem (except JoeMentum and a few others...) for President, but I think Edwards is on the top of the list.
I would LOVE Gore as well as all of us would too.

15. I'm not enthused. I've not seen the results of Edwards' "War on Poverty" |
|
it's nice that Edwards is "talking" about this important issue....but I need to "see" some tangible results. The man has millions....so I need to know what he is doing apart from "talking" and running some Poverty Center, and doing teeny projects that don't make a dent.
What I have always found Ironic was that John Edwards, who co-sponsored the lieberman IWR resolution that gave Bush a blank check, hasn't yet bothered to "talk" about the war's cost, and how it has taken a toll on our Federal budget and how the many programs for the poor were cut due to the war that he was for before being against it.
I will say that I'm glad that he is focused on solving the problems of the poor, and hopes that he continues on that as his pet project. However, with all of the money in the kitty gone....due to the war he supported until recently enough....I just don't see the populist charm adding up to anything major....which seems to differ from what others here seem to see.....meaning, I don't see the result of his "talk" about poverty, as of yet.
What I do see are direct results of Edwards' mistake (Since he apologized in November of 2005, guess he's in the clear and will not be held responsible) for voting and strongly supporting the war initially.......(even if he a "pass" from so many.....due to his late apology).
In my mind, his initial bad judgement on Iraq (many Senators voted NO.....including Graham, Levin, and others who sat on the same committee as did Edwards) rules him out of the running, for me anyways. This war is still going on, and its affect much felt....regardless that Edwards conveniently "saw" the errors of his way three full years after the fact.
So, to reward Edwards with the presidency after his showing such lack of insight when it truly counted (which was a real important test that he failed with flying colors) is just not anything I'm willing to do, no matter how cute he might be, nor how much his wife might be loved.
BTW, what's his current stance on Iran and Iraq , anyway? Just curious.

18. Again....why would I reward John Edwards mistaken support for |
|
war with the presidency? Because he now focuses his work on the poor?
When I weight it all out, it doesn't add up to that being his just reward.
Sorry.

19. Because Edwards is a likeable guy......it what he says...not what he does |
|
that seem to make the difference.
I have to hope that he is campaigning with 2006 candidates. He has to want a congressional win for the Democrats as much as most of us do.
Maybe someone here, who supports Edwards and like the idea of him as President, can fill us in on what he is doing currently for the 2006 races.
Also would like his current stance on Iraq AND Iran. Thanks!

23. Why I like Edwards in 2008 |
|
After the lies and corruption of the most heinous administration in American history, we will need someone who can project a fresh face to us and to the world. John Edwards seems to exude "freshness" and honesty and optimism to me. It's not so much what he says or his policies, rather, it's the way he conveys them and the impression I get when I listen to him. How can you not like him?
That said, there are several Democrats who I really like, and I will happily support ANYONE who is a Democrat.

but he has little of a platform to run on. Most stake their reasoning around likeability or perceived populism. Bilderberger and populism just isn't working for me. Just don't see it for a guy who was so ardently for the IWR, NCLB, Patriot Act amongst others. He also doesn't have a natural constituency within which to build a coalition. He also hasn't shown any lasting results from his focus on issues surrounding poverty. He is not in hailing distance of my top 5.

were Kucinich, Edwards, Sharpton. in that order. I'd have no problem giving Senator Edwards my primary vote again. Maybe the media won't call it for Kerry this time with only 5% of the vote counted.
