If bushco Bombs Iran In October, Will It Hurt Or
help repukes in November? My guess is that a certain amount of reflexive nationalism kicks in as the bombs begin to fall, and it helps- particularly if he makes some bullshit announcement about how they 'got' all the nuclear production sites.

3. America = Reflexive Nationalism
So it may just help.

He'll paint the Dems as cowards and doves even though most of them will vote for the bombing anyway (facts don't go well with the American public; remember, Dems = hippies), and American "Democracy" will triumph again as a super-elite at the top continues its agenda unopposed.

I'm not saying we can't ever stop this madness but this is how I see it going unfortunately.

10. Gas will go to 10.00 a gallon.. There is no way that could be construed
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 04:46 PM by converted_democrat
as a good thing.. There is a direct correlation between *'s polling numbers and the price of gas.. You can't spin your way out of 10.00 a gallon gas, no matter the reason..

edited because I forgot a word..

on second edit- Besides the personal cost that will hit the vast majority right off the bat, the economy over the course of a few weeks will most likely ground to a halt..

5. It kills them
While reflexive nationalism can't be discounted, the fact that gas prices would soar to 7 or 8 bucks a gallon trumps it.

7. It would be an insult to the entire shi'a Muslim world --check the holiday
calendar this year: Sunday, 15 October = Martyrdom of Imam Ali.

And then, there's the REST of the Muslim world; Ramadan in 2006 occurs from September 23 through 22 Oct this year.

The 25th of October is the celebration of Eid al Fetr; a HUGE deal.

Of course, the BushCo crowd probably haven't taken all this into consideration--if it ain't Xmas, they don't give a shit.

8. Initially, it helps them. The sheeple love new wars.
But, after a bit, reality will set in and people will start to realize it's just another Bush induced disaster. Of course, the reality won't hit until after the election.

11. Releasing the 'nukular' genie will bring a word of hurt down on the USA
For one thing, we have an extremely fragile, oil-based economy.

I hate to ponder the other things that might happen. :hide:

That's the key. If they say Iran is years away from a bomb, their goes his support.

the sheep will be all fired up and gather around the "COMMANDER IN CHIEF"

These fools are so predictable.

14. at this point, I don't think it helps Bush, because gasoline & heating oil
would both shoot up so fast, it would overwhelm any uptick he might get for nationalism.

And, I think the American people are a little sick of his wolf wolf routine.

15. I think the other major powers would trash our economy overnite
It's just not going to fly with the rest of the world if bush tries to nuke Iran. Even if they let Israel start it, everyone knows it's the USA that has been beating the drum the loudest.
