(AP) BUENOS AIRES, Argentina: Francis Ford Coppola has been forced to suspend shooting of his latest film "Tetro" due to labor problems, the local actors' union announced.
But Coppola's spokesperson in the U.S., Kathleen Talbert, said reports of disruptions in the filming were just "rumors."
The five-time Oscar winner began work on "Tetro" in March with a cast including Vincent Gallo and 18-year-old newcomer Alden Ehrenreich, who play two brothers from an Italian family in present-day Argentina.
The filming was put on hold Thursday night by the Argentine Association of Actors for an alleged violation of union labor rules, Daniel Valenzuela, a spokesperson from the organization, told The Associated Press.
"Filming was stopped due to a breach of the (union) agreement and will not continue until the situation is resolved," he said.
Talbert, however, said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press on Friday that "there are no actor problems or issues whatsoever on the film 'Tetro.'"
