U.S. labor laws are heavily stacked against employee Unions; and in favor of the employer. To level the playing field, the AFL-CIO is mobilizing to gather 1 million electronic signatures to ensure the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).

The Employee Free Choice Act was introduced in the 110th Congress (H.R. 800, S. 1041) and is supported by a bipartisan coalition. The EFCA would enable working people to bargain for better wages, benefits and working conditions by restoring workers’ freedom to choose for themselves whether to join a Union. It would:

* Allow employees to automatically chose a Union as their collective bargaining agent when more than 50% sign an authorization card.
* Establish stronger penalties for violation of employee rights when workers seek to form a Union and during first-contract negotiations.
* Provide mediation and arbitration for first-contract disputes.

As NATCA Members, we have seen first-hand that Union busting is alive and well in this country. We are fortunate to have the strength and solidarity that comes from being UNION to combat the attacks on our workforce.


Unfortunately, many workers across this country are systematically being denied the right to form a Union, let alone negotiate a contract or enjoy Union protections. Many employers routinely intimidate, harass, coerce and even fire workers who try to form Unions and bargain for economic well-being.
