Job Description



Title: Worker Center Network Coordinator



Goal: To build the national and local power of the IWJ Worker Center Network by the facilitation of communication among network and labor/religion affiliates, resource development and sharing, and activity coordination.



Objectives:

1) Facilitate a network visioning process among network affiliates.

2) Provide technical assistance to network affiliates including the identification and securing of national funding sources for local Worker Centers.

3) Assist with affiliation of new and existing Worker Centers as directed.

4) Coordinate with network affiliates on regional and national campaigns.

5) Be responsive and attentive to the needs of the Worker Center Affiliates



Accountability: The Worker Center Network Coordinator is accountable to the Organizing Director of IWJ and the Worker Center Network Steering committee.



Tasks to achieve objectives:

Assist in the development and refining of the affiliates’ vision and strategy for the Network.

* Build strong relationships among Worker Centers through national and regional training and annual onsite visits.
* Conduct bi-monthly national conference calls to include workers affiliated with Worker Center Network affiliates.
* Gather regular reports on affiliate priorities, activities and funding



Provide technical assistance to network affiliates

* Facilitate and oversee relationship with network affiliates and IWJ Development Department.
* Work with IWJ Development Department to identify national and local resources for worker center affiliates
* As requested by network affiliates, set up trainings to more fully access IWJ resources and programs including WorkerPro database, faith-based resources, and organizer training events.
* Facilitate communication among the affiliates of the network, including maintenance of the email list-serve and posting resources on the website;
* Issue regular updates on labor law changes and other relevant events or issues;
* Update training material for Worker centers affiliates as needed.
* Carry out and/or assist network affiliates in carrying out work plan to include national marketing strategy, coordinated direct actions, public policy advocacy, community education.
* Identify and secure adequate technical and financial support for participating Worker Center affiliates.



Assist with affiliation of new and existing Worker Centers as directed.



Coordinate with network members on regional and national campaigns

· Work with affiliates to refine campaign objectives and develop strategies to achieve those objectives.

· Develop work plan for the campaign



In addition to the specific job responsibilities, the staff member will:

* Represent the interests of the network at both IWJ and related meetings.
* Participate in regular staff meetings and events as the Worker Center Network Director.
* Perform other tasks as requested.

Skills/experience

· Fluently bilingual (Spanish)

· Five years of grassroots organizing experience

· Experience with either national coordination or the Worker Center movement, preferably both.

· Familiarity with popular education

· Experience in fund-raising

· Experience of comfort working with the religious community\
