Funny how when you loose a job & benefits, you want Obama's Health care NOW!

The City of Omaha will be laying off 130 employees on Sept. 6th. Most won't be able to pay the cobra to keep their health insurance. When the axe comes like this out of the blue, you realize Obama's plan is way better than nothing. This opened the eyes of several of my fellow union members that used to be saying NO WAY!

2. There's the 60% subsidy for cobra
for the unemployed. That will help many of them. There was supposed to be an expansion of Medicaid for low income unemployed too, but I haven't figured out what ended up happening with that.

3. That 60% is up to 9 months, and even with that, if you have a family you are most
likely still paying at least 500 dollars a month for cobra

If you don't have a job, who can really afford that?

4. Just adding info
Just a reminder for those who can use it.

You know, in Oregon my daughter's privately purchased insurance was $350 a month, when she could afford it. That was for her and her kids. Mine and hubbys, in the Oregon insurance pool for people with pre-existing conditions, would be $1100 without our subsidy and we're 52 so we've got age against us too. Why are other state's premiums so high?
