Looking for a job, and came across this little gem.. |
|
Web Architect / SQL Guru / World Shaker
We are a small and aggressive public affairs / public relations company that works only for causes in which we believe. We are strongly in favor of business opportunity, entrepreneurial freedom and responsible development of our nation's abundant natural resources. If you are interested in helping to shape the future direction of America, and you like to fight to win, talk with us. snip
Our ideal candidate is: Not a clock-puncher Obviously self-motivated Extremely adept at multi-tasking Detail oriented Thrives in a small, family friendly work environment On the "conservative" side of the philosophical fence
Is this legal? I wouldn't have asked, but the job fits me like a glove otherwise.
I bet they also pump Rush's and Beck's radio shows into the office every day. Sounds like a nightmare.

1. Sure, it's legal. And bless them for announcing that |
|
they are the kind of people you don't want to work for.

5. It sounds like discrimination to me.. |
|
But don't worry, I didn't and won't apply with these freaks.
What if they would have said..
Our ideal candidate should be: Christian Male Non-gay White
Same thing IMO. It's discrimination, and I thought that was illegal with regard to Equal Opportunity Employer laws.

7. I think they could actually get away with all of those but |

the "white" and 'gay' (depending on the state.) Don't make it right, but that's how it is. Glad you aren't applying. I had to work for a year listening to Rush every day with idiots who hung on every word he said.

8. You make an interesting point. |
|
Asking for conservatives only will likely exclude most if not all minorities. Someone could place an ad like this to camouflage a racist intent. I don't know that that's what is going on here but it could be done.

2. If the job is for a fundie or fake grassroots org. YES. |
|

Really do you want your coders to be a bunch of folks who would show your BS to the public if they happened to have a tiny bit of self respect or respect for the truth?
Are you in the DC area? I have heard of a few Orgs that are really comprised of some serious fuckwads.

10. Focus on the fuckwads???...you know...It's probably is them. |
|

Seriously, I know they downscaled but most likely they're just trying a new more techno-hip approach.
I know of a couple of hooting jackholes that were working on an "Conservative" Arabic news outlet to offset Al Jazera. Yeah...it was pretty fucking sad. Don't even know if they're still around.
I swear the one woman I knew who worked for them was a step down the evolutionary scale...everything about her was just so fucking Neanderthal. Her walk. Speech. Eating. Though process...
If I were you I'd totally infiltrate their fucked up little org.

3. "Not a clock-puncher" "family friendly" |
|
Those two things seem to be somewhat contradictory. Unless, of course, they're using the word "family" as a codeword for "Christian" rather than "we understand that you need to spend time with your family".

6. To be fair, every job I've had since 1995 has required nerd-slave labor |
|
And only one boss was a Conservative.
I hate it.

11. What they're really saying >>> |
|
Our ideal candidate is: Not a clock-puncher.........."We'll ask you to work past 5:00 just about every day...and those weekends??..Ha! Obviously self-motivated: "Will put up with taking your work home and doing things "On your own time"" Extremely adept at multi-tasking: "You don't mind polishing the floor tonight, Do you ??" Detail oriented: We'll be checking EVERY, LITTLE DETAIL" Thrives in a small, family friendly work environment: "My son works EVERY Sat and Sunday" On the "conservative" side of the philosophical fence: "Don't you just wish George could have served another 8 years"
