“Labor Day”, a new documentary film about SEIU’s role in the 2008 presidential campaign focuses on workers’ efforts to elect Barack Obama. Film maker Glenn Silber.

: “There was something happening in the country that I wanted to capture, and I found what I thought was a great, inspiring story in the role of these regular working folks working with their union to go out and try to mobilize themselves and make sure we won the swings states this time to take back their government.”

Silber features SEIU workers in the film campaigning for change they could believe in while struggling with job loss, home foreclosures and loss of health care.

: “These are profound issues going on all over the country and we don’t really seem ‘em in that up close and personal way as often as maybe we should be seeing them. They’re still there. They’re still waiting. They still want to see that change. I think it’s time for everyone to join together now and unify and help speak out so that our leaders get the message.”

Glenn Silber’s “Labor Day” has its world premiere in Madison, Wisconsin October 28th.
