Job Description: The Minnesota Association of Professional Employees has an immediate opening for the post of Business Manager. The position is full-time. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Business Manager will be responsible for administering operations and managing human resources at the Association. This is a general manager position, so the ideal candidate should possess a broad skills set covering, among other areas, human resources, fiscal oversight, and accounting.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Monitoring and oversight of budget expenditures
• Directing procurement
• Coordinating IT solutions
• Carrying out performance reviews
• Training and development of staff
• Enforcing policies and procedures
• Ensuring legal compliance with employment legislation
• Overseeing health and safety
• Facilitating communication
• Promoting harmonious employee relations
• Coordinating recruitment and selection
• Carrying out related management duties as assigned

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the post of Business Manager should:

• Possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in business, management, accounting, or human resources and 4+ years of relevant work experience or possess 8+ years of relevant work experience.
• Have documented successes (preferably in a unionized workplace) in the areas of leadership, human resources, and administration.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles and practice of management, human resources, industrial relations, fiscal oversight, accounting, and procurement.
• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of information technology.
• Have extensive insight into administrative and office procedures.
• Understand how trade unions operate.
• Possess superior problem-solving skills.
• Be able to work independently and in a team.
• Communicate effectively.
• Be able to prioritize in a multi-tasking environment.
