.S. Auto Industry Adds Some New U.S. Jobs And Investments

Back from the brink of bankruptcy, automakers in the United States are doing their best to put the ‘thanks” in Thanksgiving. Jesse Russell reports:

The auto industry is prepping for the Thanksgiving holiday by giving some laid off workers renewed hope of new jobs and new job security for current workers. According to the Associated Press General motors is planning to rehire 200 workers at a Flint, Mich. Small engine plant. That’ll be on top of 160 recently hired workers at the plant. The plant will make engines for Chevy’s Volt and Cruze. Chrysler had some good news for a Kokomo, Indiana plant on Tuesday. The automaker said it will invest $843 million into the plant so it can begin production of front-wheel drive automatic transmission. With the investment will come job security for 2,250 jobs. That announcement comes less than a month after the company said it would invest $2 billion in two Michigan auto plants making it’s total investment in the United States auto industry nearly $3 billion.
