AirTran pilots spurn new contract

http://www.bizjournals.com/memphis/stories/2007/09/17/daily26.html

Memphis Business Journal - September 21, 2007

AirTran Airways' unionized pilots have rejected a proposed new labor contract by a 61.4 percent margin.

The National Pilots Association said 1,284 of the airline's pilots, or 87 percent, voted.

The National Mediation Board, which has been chairing negotiations since September 2005, put the talks in recess until after the New Year. Because the contract falls under the Railway Labor Act it does not have a hard termination date. It remains amendable until it is replaced with a new contract or the National Mediation Board releases the two sides to seek self help.

AirTran (NYSE: AAI) operates several daily flights between Memphis and its hub in Atlanta.
