ATLANTIC CITY - About 470 dealers at Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino voted overwhelmingly last night to join the United Auto Workers.
The dealers at Trump Plaza voted, 324-149, to become the second Atlantic City casino in recent weeks to join the International Union, UAW. Caesars Atlantic City casino dealers voted overwhelmingly March 17 to join the UAW.
"The dealers have stepped up in the past year to be organized, and the UAW is the vehicle that they chose," said Joe Ashton, regional director of UAW Region 9, which includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. "They want to have the opportunity to enter into collective bargaining.
"It gives the dealers the leverage to negotiate a contract that would be beneficial to them and their families," he said.
