Wal-Mart has a clever new slogan, "Save Money; Live Better." But how exactly is Wal-Mart helping us live better? By purchasing 70% its goods from China? Or drowning out local economies? Or driving down wages?

Wake Up Wal-Mart has this new web video poking fun at Wal-Mart's absurd new slogan. It opens on a quiet suburban house with children sleeping inside. It is 3 AM. A phone rings.

1. I cracked up when I heard their new slogan
"Save Money, Live Better" - It should be "Buy Shit, Wear It Out, Buy More Shit".

2. I think by "Live Better," they mean live better if you're a Walton
... If you're the rest of us, I'm not sure how we're living better when Wal-Mart is forcing American jobs to China and driving down wages here at home.

5. You should leave out the 'Wear it Out' part-
the shit from Wally World will break before it wears out.

3. I NEVER shop at WallyMart - home of the cheap plastic crapdoodle -
I never shop there and I tell every person who mentions that they do that I don't and why. I always make sure to mention the crimes that happen at the stores, the cheapness of their products , how they drive out competition, how the Walton's keep trying to get personal exemptions to taxes, and how they DON't give shit to local communities and charity. I very the argument depending on the person. Business person get the business argument, etc.

Some of them have never thought it through. Some of them change their ways. Some don't but we need to change the tide of opinion.

If everyone complained about them and put their good down as inferior high priced crap, then maybe it would hurt sales.

4. Oh, and heaven help you if one of their trucks hits you
You see, even though the Waltons are one of the richest families in the US, Wal-Mart Inc. is "self-insured" when it comes to their trucks. A friend of mine was rear-ended by one of their 18 wheelers. She can't turn her head, so she can't drive 30 miles to work (they live in a rural area and she works in town). Since there was major damage to her SUV (a Dodge Nitro that they transport their 2 teenagers to sports, tutoring, along with all their equipment) and it's not yet driveable, Wal-Mart agreed to pay for a rental car but not a medium sized SUV similar to the one THEIR DRIVER RAN INTO. At that point, she just got a lawyer. If they had treated her with any amount of fairness, she would have worked with them. Now, she just feels like she has to protect herself and her family from financial ruin.

6. Wake Up Wal-Mart
Between this story and the Deborah Shank case, I think it's past time to wake up Wal-Mart. We're launching the 2008 campaign with this YouTube video. Check it out and join the fight!
