Which party has deeper racist roots?

Today April 4th, 2008 marks the fortieth anniversary of the
murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We have definitely made
progress- well, at least some of us have.

On this momentous day Frank looks back at the evolution of the
Democratic and Republican parties. Rightists try in
desperation to hide their racist roots with fantasies and
half-truths about the Democratic party. They paint efforts to
compensate for the atrocities of slavery and discrimination
that lasted in bold form until just the end of the 1960's as
the opposite of what they are- racist.

We can only fantasize about the outrage and demands that a
white America would make if the tables were turned. Forty
acres and a mule? Ha! Many of todays white power elites cry
like babies if they have to pay their taxes to the nation they
claim to love so much!

One conservative was brave enough to admit the truth:

ended segregation."

11. This is the BEST video I've watched in a looooong time.

This guy clears up a lot of "spin" that the repugs toss around. They blame the Democrats for things in the past, when in fact THOSE Democrats are today's repugs. They take credit for the things the Republicans did in the past, when in fact those Republicans so different from the neocon fascist part of today.

I've always considered Lincoln to be the first Democrat. It's funny because the crackers on the right consider him to be a traitor and mass murdered anyway. I enjoy your posts and hope to see more of them in the future. BTW, I'm not really a Democrat; more of a socialist thinker, just like my father!

17. Southern Liberal Democrat is all I've ever known

I'm a woman 60 yrs of age, raised in Atlanta. My parents were liberals and so was my church. My priest , Rev. Austin Ford was constantly being arrested while being involved in demonstrations for integration. We were never Dixiecrats. And he's right, this time period is when the term "Liberal Democrat" began. We were for social reform and the end of the Vietnam War. Now the Repubs try to call us communist and such ! By the way, there are a lot more liberal democrats in the South than most people think, most especially in Atlanta. And yea, I voted for Obama in the Primary.
