This after he had requested, directly from Bush, immunity from prosecution. Imagine, the new Pope is free from prosecution in the pedophile priest scandal only because he is now also the head of a state. How many people know about this? If more knew, would it matter? I mean, he is now considered to be in direct contact with Jesus or something, right? Isn't he now beyond reproach?

He was one of the top figures in a coverup which permanently and profoundly damaged countless children (estimates say over 100,000 in the US alone). He moved pedophile priests around, to protect them from scrutiny, which allowed them to continue in new surrounding, with new kids.

Disgust does not even begin to describe my feelings toward the Catholic church and the new Pope based on this immense human tragedy.

Anyone who has not seen the film, "Deliver Us from Evil" definitely should.
