12. Duuh?
As if he's the only enlightened person on the planet??? Problem is, he's right, but he's not enlightened. Certainly doesn't deserve a single vote.

For someone heading up a party that supposedly watches over corporations, he's not especially explicit in this video about the problem with corporations. Corporations themselves aren't the problem, it's the lack of regulation. Today, even THEY are asking for better regulation of themselves! Corporations themselves are not the problem, so I'd love having a 'corporate' president if that means Obama wants to regulate them properly and in the best interest of our people.

What did he ever do, help out with creating the seatbelt requirement? That's fine, but ever since he's been running for President because he's so arrogant to think he's the only one who came up with the idea of seat belts.

Pretty pathetic, IMHO.

14. Your breadth of knowledge on the man is astounding
Edited on Sun May-25-08 07:06 AM by jwlashta
Not.

Throughout Nader's prior presidential bids, he has espoused the problems with corporations.

It is idiotic to claim the man is arrogant because he spearheaded the necessity of seat belts. The man has been a proponent of universal health care, for example, for many years. He even spoke in Canada (I can't remember where and when) on the values of universal health care and why Canada should do everything it could/can to protect health care from privatization--health care costs are cheaper when health care is not privatized... something Americans have come to understand in recent years (what with people making trips north to purchase prescription drugs).

Stop sucking on those sour grapes--Nader is a wise man who offers an honest, uncompromised voice to the political debate.

18. I thought you were going to come up with a bit more...
As was the case with seatbelts, I'm sure, the majority of Americans would like to see some sort of Universal healthcare. He's not bringing anything new to the table with that. In fact, like Nader, I've even spoken face to face with a few Canadians about it. LOL. I'm sure the people I talked to were regular folk, and not the lofty people Nader rubs elbows with.

But, as I said, that was just my humble opinion (did you notice, IMHO). People can do whatever they want, obviously. I've just been irritated with people like him lately, think they are sort of ridiculous, those who have delusions of grandeur and then ultimately end up stealing momentum from others.

31. Delusions of grandeur...
The same could be said about anyone running for the office of President of the United States.

The point about health care is to provide an example of an agenda he has been pushing for about 15 years that I know of... I'm sure it's been longer, though. I'm not saying that he was the first to push the agenda in the US, but it seems to be a current hot topic and I would suggest that he was a bit of a trend-setter, if you will.

Also, his anti-corporate slant has him opposed to special interests' sway with political figures.

Once again, sour grapes. I hate the fact that Gore lost, but I blame several factors for the loss, and none of which is Nader.

28. the only problem i have with nader
is the method in which hes trying to get liberal ideals out there...

im for trying to working within the democratic party(for now atleast) to get a means to push those same ideals...i wish he was still doing the same.

how anybody can blame him after the horrible election fraud is beyond me.

32. When Nader ran in 2000
He ran (at least partly) on the basis that he felt that there wasn't much difference between the other two candidates (Gore and Bush)... I'm sure now he would have to disagree with that assessment. However, I have a feeling that he still feels an inherent corruption in both parties what with the influence of special interests and all.

I am a little annoyed that he is running again, though. He did it at first to send a message; enough people voted for him that the message should have been loud and clear. I also didn't watch all of the press conference posted here, but another annoyance is that he seems to suggest that he is running against Bush and co.?

I totally agree with you that the man cannot be blamed for Gore's loss when the election fraud essentially cost Gore Florida (and thus the presidency).

13. Much of what he says is right, BUT running for Prez CONSTANTLY is NOT the way! He won't win. Can't
win. Hasn't won. Won't happen. We don't need to lose a single progressive vote to someone who simply can not win. And while Bush/Cheney are abhorrent, the votes in congress do not exist for impeachment. He's a lame duck, and what we need Bush to do is keep being awful because the worse he is, the more he destroys the R's and McBUSH in November. Better for Ralph to push his agenda in other contexts, NOT as a continual Presidential candidate who has no hope in hell of winning and which makes him look rather foolish and diminishes the force of his anti-Bush message.

Edited on Sun May-25-08 09:11 AM by YourUniqueDemocrat
The columnist for Obama that we all love, from The Nation.

She saw no difference between Bush and Gore, or as she liked to call him, "Bore".

Now we're in Iraq and Gore is a Nobel Laureate; and Bush is the worst ever.

33. Ouch! Hit a sore spot?
My point, if you wouldn't be so quick to take offense, is that one has little to do with the outcome of the other. Don't penalize Nader for having the Dems lose; if you have to, penalize the SYSTEM for making it that way.

I campaigned for Kerry in '04, too, and plan to do even more for Obama in '08. Glad we're on the same team.
