26. I want a candidate in 2008 that is up for reelection in 2012 |
|
No talk about any race up until 2016, remember we do want to win in 2008.

I am SO glad that THESE are the words and ideas that now are gaining currency in the public discourse ...
Webb was simply outstanding ..... IF he wrote this from the heart, then he just became one of my heroes ....
IF it was written for him, he delivered it with conviction and sincerity .... This means so much to me ....
THANK YOU Jim Webb ... and may your dear son be safe and return to his home soon ....
THIS is why I have been a Democrat all my life ....
I've been starving for this ....

15. Jim Webb wrote the speech |
|
I attended a SOTU party in Virginia Beach with many of Webb's earliest supporters, many of whom have become close friends of his. He wrote the speech.
What drew me to Webb back during the Democratic primary for the senate race last spring was Webb's integrity and intelligence. He had a difficult time raising money because he refused to take it from lobbyists and special interest groups.
I don't think that we can wait until 2012 for a person for integrity who is not beholden to any special interests to become president. We need him to run and win in 2008!
From personal, first-hand experience, I can attest to that fact that Jim Webb is the real thing!

13. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY THE DEM PARTY IS BIG TENT!!! |
|
Jim Webb is not perfectly liberal. His positions on many issues are contrary to some of our progressive beliefs. But on the issue of foreign policy, he is strongly on our side.
I rest my case.

20. He Also Cares About People |
|
He's my Senator. I was thrilled to hear him talk about the economic cisparity out there nowadays. It's a very important issue to him. He has no trouble with folks being rich, but he does have a problem with the hardships ordinary working people face daily. I am so proud to "own" him. LOL

25. Don't know why this doesn't have 3,000 responses... |

I saw Jim Webb campaigning, and I could see why people might be tepid on him as a candidate--he's not a big schmoozer, he seems to have a congenital lack of false enthusiasm. But I was impressed by what came across as his integrity, his genuine thoughtfulness, and his obvious intelligence. Shrub's utter neglect of any mention of New Orleans looked even stupider and more oblivious after this rebuttal, and his SotU delivery was plaintive and flat. Jim Webb sounded so....ADULT by comparison. This speech was just masterful.

If anyone was more deserving of ripping Bushco, Inc. a new one, It would be Jim Webb. After the egregious offense that Bush made against him a couple of months ago, Bush had this coming to him. I am only surprised that anyone could have the patience that Senator Webb had when Bush insulted him about his son in Iraq.
This was the best Democratic response that I have heard in years. This speech should go down in history, and be taught to kids all over the country. We are a nation OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE. Corporations are not people. War only benefits the coffers of corporations, and not people, so it must be shunned at all costs.
