Senator Ted Kennedy was welcomed back to the Senate Floor with a standing ovation after returning from having brain surgery for a malignant tumor.

Kennedy returned to the Senate to vote on a HR 6331 a critical Medicare piece of legislation that would cut Medicare payments to providers by 10.6%, placing unknown numbers of Medicare recipients In serious jeopardy of not accessing healthcare.

Kennedy has a life long record of advocating for healthcare for all Americans and serves as Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

With a boost from Kennedy's support, the Democrats were succsssful in the vote to restore Medicare funding

2. A heartwarming welcome back...
And, a well deserved one. Kennedy is our liberal lion who has led a long fight for healthcare.

It's great to see him back in the Senate!

8. No but he sent a message weeks ago that he would vote NO on FISA.
It looks like he only went in for this vote to break a tie. I'm sure he would have done the smae for FISA if one more vote would have done it.

11. My best to you
I hope your treatments are going well.

No one should have to face being cut off of treatments, esp for cancer or other serious conditions. That would be downright disgraceful. Elizabeth talked about just this point recently when discussing McCain's disasterous healthcare plan.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

20. 9 Republicans changed their vote when Kennedy showed up.
The bill will now go to the President's desk. Thank God for Senator Kennedy!

22. My daughter works for a family practice in South Carolina.
One of the doctors is a staunch Republican with an autographed picture of Chucklenuts and himself in his office. He dislikes Democrats but absolutely hates anything Kennedy. My daughter called last weekend and said the doctor was furious that the Senate (not the Republicans mind you) was cutting Medicare payments. He was just going to stop seeing Medicare patients because he couldn't afford to take the pay cut. I would love to hear what this guy has to say about his hated archenemy, a Kennedy, any Kennedy, but especially Ted Kennedy, kept the cuts from going into effect.

My daughter said this doctor is an internist and has a lot of Medicare patients. Said if he quit accepting Medicare his practice would be cut by over half. I'm guessing this doctor should send Ted a big old fruit basket and a get well card.

Thanks for posting the video. The true heroes of the Senate are getting fewer and fewer. It will take decades to find another Senator the caliber of a Ted Kennedy.

21. Wow, that was even bigger than the ovation David Vitter got from the Repubs...
upon his return after apologizing for "sinning" in DC Madam-gate.

Seriously, though, this was truly heartwarming to see.
