On the Reuters site, there was footage of more "people in the street".

Sad comment (and I read it elsewhere, too) that the Afghanis have been told by our Presidents, that they would be helped. But Dem or Rep, no help has been forthcoming. They hold no hope that things will be any different regardless of who gets into office in November. :(

2. Both Afghans & Iraqis have been through promises of us helping them
after war - at least twice - so I can't blame them for just wanting us to go away.

4. i think that there is a valid concern
about anti-American extremists. It's infuriating and heartbreaking that this administration's actions have fueled these sentiments to a higher pitch.

What would you have us do?

6. So you don't have any real thoughts on the situation?
Then carry on, just viciously slamming and judging others.

9. So here we go...
No history lessons allowed here. Has Obama learned nothing from the Russians version of vietnam. Afghanistan is a loser just as Iraq is. Bring our troops home were they can protect us from the invasion at the border. Blame Bush for the failures in the Middle East let it collapse lets be honest who really cares? If they want to go around blowing themselves up why is that our business?

Unless of course you fell for the strawman of they will follow us home... if you did you are as big an idiot as the man that tried to sell that junk to you.

11. Now that it seems that they won't get the oil in Iraq
They have to at least protect the poppy fields in Afghanistan, very little of the reconstruction money is really going to the Karzai government, most of it goes to the war lords who are heavily in involved in the heroin trade... I know it may sounds cynical but you only have read about China and the opium wars to understand that the "Elites" have used national army's to protect and expand their drug trade before...

12. By the way this is the governor that Obama met in the video.
Another U.S. favourite is Gul Agha Sherzai, “a major opium godfather” who rules Kandahar province, former stronghold of the Taliban. The New York Times called Sherzai “the biggest warlord of them all.” He reportedly controls the heroin trade in southern Afghanistan, and opium production “dominates economic life” in Kandahar. Sherzai ruled Kandahar as governor from 1992 to 1994, as well and during this time the area was one of the largest sources of opium in Afghanistan.
