BEST TIMING
"dana milbank of the washington post notified us today that after 4 years of appearing with us he had accepted another television offer. this saved your crack countdown staff an increasingly difficult decision--for nearly a week we have been waiting for him to offer a correction or explanation for his column from last week in which he apparently reported an obama quote but not the full context that turned the meaning of the quote inside out.
(shows the quote)
we decided not to have dana on this news hour again until this was cleared up and sadly, after some very happy years, he has apparently chosen to make that cloud permanent. good luck dana"

(screw you dana! i always thought you were a jerk)

8. Oh, great. milbank was NEVER a friend. NEVER. He was always smirking and snarky
about Democrats, while giving the White House pass after pass after pass after pass after pass. For heaven's sakes, even that miserable little twit richard wolffe finally gave up after years of ending every one of his on-camera bits about bush or this White House or the administration with some version of "...but the overall public impression is still that he is/they are doing the best he/they can."

He's NO friend to Dems, liberals, progressives, Obama supporters - OR Obama himself. Never has been. I'm surprised he lasted this long on "Countdown" - it wasn't a good fit.

Granted, after awhile, bush and his lame-ass or downright deceitful doings stunk up the place SO BADLY that even milbank couldn't sell that kind of shit anymore. It got so bad even he started stepping slightly away.

GOOD RIDDANCE.

Only problem is - on "Countdown," at least we were for the most part wise to him and he wasn't going to fool us. On CNN with the delightful and horrendously biased campbell brown, both their agendas will be showing like errant undergarments, and viewers there may not be the wiser. I think Pox Noise is widely viewed and understood to be biased toward the wrong. I suspect that MSNBC is coming to be viewed as more to the left. CNN, I don't think, has been pegged yet (except among those of us who watch these things closely and try to read a lot of tea leaves) as leaning toward any one side - with the possible exceptions of the glaringly obvious lou dobbs and to a lesser extent Jack Cafferty. Cafferty's reasonable NOW. He wasn't always that way, though, and can't be counted on continuing to give liberals/Dems/Obama a fair shake forever. Just wait til Obama's election and then see how reasonable and even-handed he is toward Dems. Just wait. He's with us FOR NOW. And that's about it.

14. A Wikipedia search of Time Warners Board of Directors
shows that one of them actually sits on Bush's Foreign Policy Advisory Board. Another has worked in the administration. Ted Turner himself has denounced CNN in it's current state. If you watch CNN International it's a whole different kettle of fish than the crap they peddle in the U.S. They are definitely not a left leaning "news" channel. They are biased right wing dribble.

27. I gave up on CNN the day of Wellstone's plane crashing
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 01:26 PM by truedelphi
Wolf Bltizer sprinted onto the airfield, in Eveleth MN, grabbed away the mike from the young local news reporter, and falsified the report.
ARGUING WITH BLITZER OVER THE DEATH OF A KNOWN TARGET

Many experienced internet researchers, especially post-9-11, understand the importance of immediately securing local press reports and eyewitness statements to pivotal events in the moments after they occur. Several keen observers were able to transcribe the following live dialogue between an on-the-scene reporter and CNN's Wolf Blizter.

Reporter: There is no evidence that weather had anything to do with the crash.

Blizter: But the plane was flying into some sort of ice storm, was it not?

Reporter: There is no evidence that the weather had anything to do with the crash.

According to these observers CNN immediately cut away from the on-scene reporter who was not heard from again. Other watchers noted a crawl along the bottom of the screen which, they said, ran only one time, "Weather not a factor in crash."

Yet the stories currently posted on the CNN site still suggest that the crash was caused by bad weather and icing.

Paul Wellstone had been a target of an assassin once before. He was strident opponent of Plan Colombia, a U.S. military aid package which involves massive aerial spraying of lands believed to be growing cocaine and the use of private military contractors employed by companies like DynCorp. Wellstone had traveled to Colombia to evaluate the program. Shortly after his arrival on Dec. 1, 2000, as reported by a number of news sources including the AP, a bomb was found along his route from the airport. Although the State Department later downplayed the incident, the general opinion was, and remains, that as an outspoken critic of CIA and covert operations, Wellstone had indeed been a
target.
#####
During the week following Wellstone's death, not once did CNN bother to mention the past bomb incident, which clearly proved the case for Wellstone being somebody's target. Nor was there ever a mention of VP Dick Cheney telling Wellstone that he might regret not voting for the IWR.

18. Don't let the door hit ya, Dana.
It's bad enough the media doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about the truth, but to have a jerk like Milbank pull a Cheney ( So? ) when he gets called on his unprofessional, and downright unethical behavior was just too much. Countdown will be a far better show for his absence.

He would say one thing on Hardball and say another on Countdown. He would blow with the wind. Because of this I always thought Olbermann over used him.

28. Like you, I never "got" why Keith was using this shill.
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 02:06 PM by truedelphi
Was he needing to support his opinions and his news with more "objective" reporters?

But then, why would he choose Milbank of all people?

Thank God Keith had the wisdom to bring Rachel Maddow to the forefront.
