I avoided looking at the ad for a while because I thought the still showed mccain. What a pleasure it was to see that it wasn't an attack ad but one that showcased Obama's plan.
Uplifting IS good! :hi:

3. So it's going to be competing with McCain's ugly attack ads during the Olympics? |
|
Nice ad. literally hammers home its points.
I sure hope Obama knows what he's doing.
I sure hope he doesn't look back and say, "this was the time to hit the fucker when he was still down, and we screwed up by being positive."

5. Okay spot. Love the message, but the house metaphor is weak. |
|
It's still light years ahead of anything coming out of the McSame camp.

7. It's OK I guess. Why do they call it 3 BR ranch |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-14-08 10:25 AM by doc03
isn't a ranch home built on one level, that one has 1 1/2 floors? Wasn't that called a Cape Cod style or something. My house is nearly identical to that one. My house was built in 1943 the ranch style home became popular in the 50s. I want to see something hitting back hard on McCain calling him out for the liar he is.

8. Ranch has become a generic term for a lot of homes |
|
When we were looking for a home, the realtor called a lot of houses, "ranch". And the home we are in now, she called a "true ranch style". But it's not - it's prarrie style.
But in regards to the ad, perhaps they are making reference (incorrectly) to the idea that this house looks like it could be on a ranch.

11. My house has an interesting history |
|
it was originally built in 1940. In 1943 a private plane piloted by a drunk crashed into it. He crashed the plane then jumped out of the second floor window and never got a scratch. The house burnt to the ground though. According to my elderly neighbor you weren't permitted to build a new home back then unless your home burnt down or something. Another restriction they had was it had to be the exact same square footage as the previous home. I have the architect's drawing of the house showing it with two dormers but they weren't permitted to put them in since the original house didn't have them. The pilot was the insurance agent that held the policy on the home. The neighbor told me the guy lost his licence to fly.

9. That's what I'm talkin' about |
|
This ad is geared to the middleclass, working tax-payer and it articulates Obama's economic policy succinctly and positively. The middleclass needs to know that he hears their cries loud and clear and will do something about it. This ad should be the basis for other, more specific, ads that depict some concrete examples of his infrastructure building, green industry and fair tax and trade ideas.

I like Obama's positive ads also and I think it would be in bad taste for him to run negative ads during the Olympics. I think John McCain was in bad taste and I think the average America will probably see through it. I am giving them too much credit? Obama has come out with some very good counter-punching ads, they're just not airing during the Olympics.
