Tom Browkaw actually did some real news here ... segment on the death squads in El Salvador; how they work, who finances them (among them rich Salvadoran families in Miami), etc. Roberto d'Aubuisson - the leader and main organizer of the squads - was running for President of El Salvador and the U.S. wasn't too keen on such an openly dirty leader running the country.

One writer in describing how even friends aren't safe if someone is perceived to be a threat as one man confessed that he had a friend "sacrificed in the name of free enterprise."

When Archbishop Oscar Romero raised international alarm about what was going on in El Salvador, RW death squads shot him dead while he was serving mass.
