1. Ah, to be young and stupid again. |

Been there, done that. Sorry, being on the club end of a policemen's stick resolves nothing. But go for it! Be useful for John McCain's campaign.

It may not become a police riot, but, expect the distruptors to make a scene, and expect the M$M to be in position and to exaggerate it.
While I have no objection to demonstrating, those who do so do so at the risk of electing the Republicans. Everyone needs to understand how this stuff plays on Main Street in the Red States.

conversations and circles. I have to wait until they are finished to see them run normally. I delete most of them and miss a great deal of info. Does this happen to everyone???

You have to allow them to download (w/ sound down is more tolerable), then replay.

hope. What are these protesters thinking, it's s disgrace. The world is watching and in this instance I don't think they will be siding with the protestors, it's havoc for the sake of it.It kinda feels like stamping on someones birthday party. You might not like the person having the party but no call to ruin the party.

I've seen them at the protests in D.C. as well. They're certainly not Democrats and I find it interesting they're protesting our convention. We'll probably also see them at the Republican convention as well.

18. There was an army of police out there this evening |
|
They were trucked in from all over the place, all in heavy duty riot gear (must have been boiling inside of those things). I went up to one of them and asked if something evil had happened or was about to happen, and he said no, it was just preventative. Tom Hayden spoke about how it was in 1968, and said that these guys had been pre-programmed to expect and therefore give back violence. I did see a few bandit-masked types, but there were very few (less than ten) that I saw, and so far no provocations and no reactions.
Still, if these guys are there in full battle gear and completely on edge, it won't take much to set them off. So far, I just engage them in conversation, ask a question, just say, "got it, thanks, man!" and act as if they were fellow tourists instead of a force armed to the teeth. So far, mellow begets mellow. I realize that could change at any second.

19. These protests seem pretty pointless to me. |
|
What are the protesters trying to accomplish? Demonstrations did not stop the War in Iraq although the demonstrations were huge. No one is moved by demonstrations any more.
These people just look like a bunch of troublemakers at this point.
Obama is against the war. And if they wanted a more progressive candidate, then they should have gotten out and worked to get one nominated during the primary. It's a bit late to be making noise about this now.
I'm the first to criticize the Democratic Party when it does not stand up on issues like impeachment and FISA, but demonstrations just don't change anything any more. It just makes progressives look chaotic and stupid.
