I'm just so damn glad to hear the lion's roar again, that's all. It was the sweetest music to me.
My generation and its icons are passing. But there he stood, wounded but giving no ground and carrying the colors high and proud.
During the Civil War the standard bearer would lead the charge carrying the colors, the flag. It was the highest honor and brave men jumped at the chance to do it. Yet it was the enemy custom to fire upon the colors, to try to bring them low, and all men knew that the colors would be subject to a withering and deadly fire. In battle a brave man might stand only moments before falling, and the next man in turn would leap to catch the flag before it fell. And so it was, even to the last man, for no honorable soldier could bear to allow the colors to flounder in the mud and the blood while a breath remained. The practice is ancient.
Jack was killed and Bobby picked up the standard, then Bobby fell and Ted picked it up. Long ago. He spoke of this long ago.
So did you hear him tonight. Did you hear him pass the standard? To a new generation. To Obama.
My generation and its icons are passing. But there he stood, mortally wounded but giving no ground and carrying the colors high and proud.
I was just so damn glad to hear the lion's roar again, that's all. It was the sweetest music to me.
So I got something in my eye. So?

I dont think anything this convention produces will top this moment for me. Teddy has done so much for so many it would take days to present it all in a documentary. i wonder how many right wing bastards have benefitted by Ted's decades of service without even knowing it.
God Bless You Senator Kennedy! :woohoo: :patriot:

I was so glad to hear the lion roar once again! I pray that he stays with us for a couple more decades to help guide us and to see the fruits of his long labors. I know Joe, Jack, and Bobby are looking down and smiling. Yeah, I admit it damnit, my eyes are leakin' and my nose is running. Must be the dust in this room.
