6. It's that kind of honest assessment that makes the Daily Show a news
source. People get the news from them because the networks don't cover the real issues.

7. Yes it truly is remarkable that a comedy show holds this administration
and its congressional allies more accountable than the real news outlets. Even more amazing is the fact that they are generating laughs with the truth. The sad times we live in, I hope they soon change.

9. .
That Bush freeper rally was..well remarkable.
It also showed what Repubs can do best. Lying, smearing, scaring the people, inciting hate. Nothing more.

10. Keith Olberman's special comment last night was 1000x better though.
Edited on Thu Nov-02-06 12:24 PM by oc2002

The only reason the Kerry story got traction for 3 days is because of the emense power of the right wing spin machine to create a lie, repeat the lie over thousands of channels, and never look at the facts.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/11/01/olbermanns-special-comment-there-is-no-line-this-president-has-not-crossed-nor-will-not-cross-to-keep-one-political-party-in-power

This should be posted above the Stewart link on the home page.

16. I agree about Olbermann.
Unfortunately, there was a glitch in our software, and I accidentally blocked myself from putting olbermann on the homepage. Elad is trying to fix it right now so I can get it up.

18. Yet, I believe TDS's take will resonate more
We know what we're going to get from Olberman. And he delivers. Bless him. I don't want him to change in the least.
But, fact it. Keith is preaching to the choir. And that's great.
TDS gets a diverse crowd. And a crowd that needs to be reached. And that needs to vote. If younger people would vote, we'd be one blue country.
TDS played this whole Kerry overblown story perfectly - with the right balance. At the end, the affair Kerry was squashed and effectively shown to be yet another case of rightwing flop sweat.
They're desperate. And that what TDS cleverly illuminated.
Taking nothing away from Keith. But where we'll win is with TDS and Letterman.
These middlemen are reeling in the middle.

my last statement. At least we have Keith Olberman, a former sports commentator, as an honest media source.

now I know--Daily Show and Colbert. It took a while to get them up and running, but they were desperately needed!

And on the serious side, Keith Olberman steps in and fills some mighty big shoes.

(In a runnoff, though, I think Nancy Reagan would wipe the floor with Couric).

Isn't it sad that the guys making jokes do a better job at showing the truth than the people who are actually supposed to be reporting the news?

28. Makes me cry...
Humor, like Will Rogers, shows what idiots are leading or trying to lead our country?

"I don't care how little your country is, you got a right to run it like you want to. When the big nations quit meddling, then the world will have peace." Will Rogers

Oops, I guess I went too far back in history beyond the 2004 elections? Oh well, I guess nothing really changes...

33. Absolutely not.
It would lose all its punch on a major network. It would start to suck very quickly.

31. Where are the WMDs?
The Democrats really ought to consider making an ad using that clip of Bush "'looking' for the WMDs" and air it in all the districts/states with tight congressional races.

40. The "breaking story" was well planned to say a lot
He starts by talking about the story that the Iraqi PM pulled our troops away from looking for the kidnapped soldier - a very important issue. Then, true to life, the breaking story for the pugs...John Kerry! I think they jumped on this and kept at it partly to drown out the first story.

That was brilliant in commentary. John's reactions were spot on to the stupidity of the neo-cons.

43. Watch The Daily Show online
You can watch all of The Daily Show on the Comedy Central website.

http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/index...

There are some short commercials. But it's legal (unlike YouTube).

Last night I watched the 3 latest editions. It's great!

So you don't need Comedy Central (or More4 in England).

If you have internet - The Daily Show can be seen anywhere! :-)
