1. That movie just gives me the chills--

I had never heard of it until the Metallica video "One." I was lucky enough to find a copy of it, and I had nightmares for weeks. It still creeps me out--so sad, but how many have come back from wars the very same way? It's a very powerful and daring statement of the truth.

2. Yes, "powerful and daring". I've never forgotten it.

In 1979 it played at the Miami Film Festival. The main character was so optimistic despite what happened to him. He proudly served our country and wanted to have his life stand for something, and the powers that be shut him out - just like what is happening today.

3. I loaned that book to a right-wing coworker of mine

who claimed he was bored and had not brought any books with him to read. I told him it was a good, fast read and very compelling. I then stood back and waited for his head to blow up.

Well, he finished it in one night, and I thought he was going to kill me the next day.

This book should be REQUIRED reading for everyone who supports this war, or any war for that matter.
