It gets really good at the end of the clip. Barbara lays it on the line... Hasselbeck cries and says "but...but...what about Barack."

44. EXACTLY!!
So when does Hasselcrack run off the stage and into the arms of Fox?

Because we ALL know it's coming.

And that whining, under-educated, over-privileged, brassy green-haired fool will truly NOT be missed.

'father figure'protector to help her over the hurdles; therein she is like Palin, a user.

Palin and McCain.

What's upsetting is that there were people in the audience who actually applauded her a couple of times.....

7. Nobody on The View
corrected Hasselbeck when she accused Biden of saying FDR was President during the Depression. Of course, FDR was President during the Depression. FDR served as President from 1932-1944. The Depression started in 1929 and didn't really end until at least 1942 when the U.S. began making airplanes, tanks, ships by the thousands for World War II. All that building gave the men not in the Armed Services jobs plus countless women as well.

Biden was incorrect when he said FDR went on TV because TV wasn't in use until after FDR died. FDR always spoke on the radio. Also the event Biden referred to took place after the market crash of 1929 but before FDR was in office.

FDR was on television in 1939 and 1940...

FDR gave a televised address from the 1939 World's Fair in New York ... thereby becoming the first U.S. President to be televised. (ON EDIT ADDED LINK)

RCA had begun to develop reliable television broadcast technology long before their legal case had been settled, and in 1939 had readied their production line to produce 4 different models of consumer TV receivers. Only one thing was needed to sell these sets... TV programs. The National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) was RCA's broadcasting wing. It began regular U.S. television broadcasting on April 30, 1939, with a telecast of President Franklin D. Roosevelt opening the New York World's Fair. Programs were transmitted from the NBC mobile camera trucks to the main transmitter, which was connected to an aerial atop the Empire State Building.

http://www.bairdtelevision.com/RCA.html">Television In The World of Tomorrow

In addition, FDR was televised from a Democratic Rally in Madison Square Garden in October, 1940.

Albeit, TV was only in about 300 homes in the NYC area at the time. Biden probably meant radio and slipped up, but the essence of his comment was correct. But, since he is the official MSM gaffe machine, no responsible journalist would bother actually analyzing the comment for truth. Plus, many of his fireside chats were broadcast on newsreels in movie theaters of the day. Much of that footage is located at the FDR library:

22. Great links
I chose the words "in use" because I was trying to say that although TV may have been invented, it was not yet available to the American public as a group.

You are right that most Americans got their nightly news from the radio, and Americans were hungry for nightly news in World War II.

You are also right that many, many Americans saw images on newsreels when they went to the "picture show," usually once or twice a week.

I'm old enough to remember those reels. I was only 3 years old when FDR died, so I don't remember seeing FDR on the reels while he was alive. When I was about 5, however, one of the newsreels showed a "re-run" of FDR's speech, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." I thought FDR had said, "The only thing we have to fear is beer itself." I puzzled over that statement for a very long time before someone gave me the correct word!

I don't fear beer, unless it is near beer!

My Dad is the one who told me to look up the news reels, he volunteered at 17 and served in the South Pacific from 1944 until the end of the war. Although, they were too poor for the "picture show", but they had an Aunt who treated he and his brother once in a "blue moon" as Dad put it!

39. Yes, but the whole point of Biden's statement was to
give an example of a president that came out and reassured the public of what was going on.(because bush had not said a thing to the people, since the bill had been outted, when he said that) That was why he made the reference. I think Biden just generically threw out the stock market part as a reference, and probably meant to say radio, but flubbed that part.

have the right scoop on how much oil Alaska provides to the US; she said 20%, actually I heard it is about 3-1/2 %. 'Energy expert', that really gravels me. I can't stand phonies. She is only good at flim flamming, probably been refining that since childhood.

Another lie used by McCain is that Palin's son was sent to Iraq with the National Guard. He is not a member of the National Guard, he joined the regular army to avoid jail time.

it's about judgment, temperament, and thoughtful intelligence. Rethugs don't seem to understand that. I don't care if McPalin spent 50 yrs in Washington--he is not qualified for the position of POUSA.

http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/shortsharpscience/2008/09/alaska-does-not-produce-20-of.html

She said 20%, it is 3.5%.

Palin has also never made any decisions regarding the national guard. That is up to the federal government when it comes to foreign policy.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/31/alaska-national-guard-gen_n_122860.html

These arguments are so shallow and false. They fall apart with superficial research.
