2. Fox is fun to watch now. |
|
It's fun to see these people squirm trying to defend all the bad news happening to the GOP. Yesterday I saw a correspondent sarcastically report the response McCain had for an Obama attack on his health care plan. The correspondent more of less said that McCain is talking about Ayers while Obama is slamming him on health care.

The reality is that Faux wants to be in business under President Obama. I don't expect they will ever be worth watching by progressives, but if they go down with the McCain ship, that hurts their commercial interests and sets them up to be little more than the sour grapes network.
They fancy themselves the voice of the average American. And to some degree that has been true, in the sense that the average American was completely ignorant of politics and governance and therefore very susceptible to the bullcrap that Faux has been pushing. This campaign has transformed many people, getting them more engaged in the democratic process. Americ is changing. If Faux wants to think of themselves as America's voice, they have to change too.

11. Faux will NEVER change |
|
Faux led the media push for the Clinton Impeachment. Faux led the march to war. Faux has repeatedly and consistently served as the RNC's mouthpiece. Faux has been the staunch defender of the Bushit Administration and all its failed policies. Faux has repeatedly and mercilessly smeared Barack Obama and his family (ask yourself this question: would a newsperson on any other network have gotten away with calling Michelle Obama "Barack's Baby Momma?).
So why should they change? They will NEVER change so long as Ailes is their head.
The only way they might (and I stress, might) change is if the Democrats and an Obama Administration spell it out to in a way that it really hurts, on the level of getting hit right between the eyes with a large, thick stick. A way to do this is, on 21 Jan, FNC should be kicked off the WH grounds and their press corps passes not renewed, period. Second step would be a nationwide, blanket boycott of Faux by ALL Democratic politicians, operatives, and their aides. No interviews, no camera time, nothing.

13. They will never lead a progressive charge |
|
But the right wing had the media almost entirely to themselves for so many years. In order for Faux to stand out, they had to be way far right and belligerent about it.
They will always be to the right of the pack, but the pack is definitely moving to the left with leaders like Olbermann, Maddow, the Air America gang, TYT et al. That is forcing CNN to play things more our way. There are lots of ripples.

3. Question that has been on my mind.... |
|
For starters, this is awesome and I think that I even saw another example of it this morning, where the tools at Fox also actually pointed the same thing out. Then there was the clip the other day of O'Reilly ranting about how the economic issue shouldn't be blamed on Clinton since he hasn't been in office for 8 years. Is this amazing or what?
So, now for my related question... If Obama wins, what happens to Fox News?

7. But by talking about it they are reinforcing the attack. |
|
Whatever they say about the legitimacy of the attack, they lend power to the attack by discussing it.
We need to quickly turn the conversation to how desperate McCain is to be mudslinging when he declared he would not engage in that type of campaign.

9. What happened after that, though? |
|
What did she say to that, and did he say anything back?
Too many times I've seen news anchors (even on CNN) appear to be defending Obama (or any Democratic candidate) when in reality it's just a half-hearted attempt to look "fair and balanced"
