If you haven't already already donated to "No on Prop 8", please do so now. And let's finally put an end to this irrational fear-mongering.

4. If they are so worried about LGBT equality being taught in their PUBLIC schools
Either join the PTA or pull your fucking brat out and homeschool them.

2. I'll do so again next week, my friend.

I'm not going to see that thing.

I'll try to donate some more in the next few weeks. My question...why aren't more gay and lesbian people who can afford it...like, um, Ellen DeGeneres who recently got married and who would be directly affected by Prop 8...donating at all? Hell, Ellen could write a check for $100,000 without any problem.

6. I hesitated when I went to post it
But if watching this motivates some DUers to reach a little deeper, so be it.

We've wondered the same thing about Ellen, even though she has been publicly vocal in denouncing Prop 8. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, we wondered maybe if she donated on the DL. But you'd think the homo Hollywood elite would find the same strength that Brad did and put their money into defeating this bigotry.

16. I like Newsome and hope he has a bright political future . . .
But he's not exactly a poster boy for the superiority of different-sex marriage . . .

8. Why does DU

Support yes on 8 by having ads for it????? No one should have to donate anything because this shit doesn't belong on a ballot. How in the 21st century do we have a proposition for hate? This is one more example that religion doesn't belong in state affairs. It's too bad that we couldn't put a disability tax for those who can't live the life they want. I bet if it affects tax dollars then gays would be able to get married.

9. I don't think the OP is supporting it,
judging by the comment underneath.

I think its just to see what the other side is saying.

12. Well these past few days
I saw some banners here that were pro prop 8. They sell their space here. Why are they taking money from the yes on 8? I've never seen anything here anti illegal immigrant that I can think of. This is their page and they decide what gets put up.

I'm guessing mine won't be:

"What nonsense! If you are worried about 'protecting marriage' why don't you start with Republican ADULTERERS like John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani and Rush Limbaugh!

Massachusetts has the LOWEST divorce rate in the country! The HIGHEST divorce rates are in states that have anti-gay-marriage laws!"

14. I had my students deconstruct this ad in my class as part of our current propaganda unit
funny thing is that we started analyzing it last week when it appeared on youtube, and over the weekend when they were doing their homework on it, it blew up all over the t.v. channels. this made them even more intent to dissect its hate and fear-mongering, and we had a very lively and consientious discussion in class on it this past Tuesday.

you name it, they identified all the propaganda techiniques it's using---name-calling and caricature of mayor newsom as a form of scapegoating and stigmatizing the opposition, appeals to fear and anger via the fallacious equivocation of his statement as so-called "anti-democratic", layering over that the same appeal via its equivocation of the supreme court judges' ruling, glittering generalities through its faulty association of all of California's registered voters with its own cause, intentionally misrepresenting the professor's "authority" as a "neutral expert" on the law (Pepperdine, where he teaches, is a Catholic University, something the ad never tells you), and piling lie upon lie in every prevariacated lie he tells. Not one of his statements is true, and can be seen in a great propaganda-deunking response ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-pSye9W7FY&feature=related

my students were VERY displeased with all of this. people in California can see through the B.S., and proposition 8 is not going to pass....

17. I hope it will sink into the sunset!
We are the only "No on 8" sign in our neighborhood. (African-Afmerican middle class) It is near our Obama sign. Our block is politically active and most have Obama signs and some also for other candidates (none for McShame).
